  1. I have a few questions about Cloud Management Gateway; If I implement it, do I have to implement HTTPS on my Management Point too? And if so, just to be clear, that means that all clients will only be allowed to communicate via HTTPS, including unknown PXE-booting clients? If that is the case, could I theorectically create a new server with a Management Point installed, enable HTTPS only on that MP and then add the CMG component there? Would that work or is that a stupid idea? Thanks for your help/recommendations!
  2. Sorry, you can ignore this post. The client just needed a long time to report in (more than 1 day, even after a re-install of the client).
  3. Has anyone seen any issues with the SCCM Client and the Surface Pro 4? First of all, it's not really an "issue", but the Surface Pro 4 identifies itself as chassis type "1", which means that the "isLaptop" variable in MDT and SCCM doesn't work, but there are workarounds for that. The issue we have with at least 2 different Surfaces is that the Inventory doesn't seem to work. In InventoryProvider.log we see lots of error messages of the type; "GetObjectAsync - Error handling request, 8004100f". Is anyone else seeing this? Thanks for any hints/tips you might have.
  4. Thanks for the post, excellent as always! Do you know if it's possible to create a VHDX file using this method? Or would I have to convert it from a VHD file? Thanks for any help you might be able to give me.
  5. Hi, I managed to get this working in the end, when I specified each of our CAS servers individually. At first I was giving just our cluster name, but after I listed each of the CAS servers, I was then able to get the data I needed. However, I still don't know why the first attempt didn't work.
  6. Hi, I'm trying to setup MDM without Intune on SCCM 2012 R2 and Exchange in-house. I've setup the Exchange connector, and there are no errors in EasDisc.log, so it looks like discovery is working. However, I don't see any mobile devices in the "All Systems" collection, nor in "All Mobile Devices". Where else can I check what is going wrong? Thanks for any pointers you can give me here.
  7. OK it looks like I solved this issue. I uninstalled WADK 8.1 and went back to WADK 8. I was sure that I had deployed a fresh image since the update from 8 to 8.1, but obviously not. I had certainly successfully deployed a new boot image using WADK 8.1 though. Anyway, my setup now is Windows Server 2012, SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4, and WADK 8, just for reference. Upgrading to WADK 8.1 prevents me from importing new Windows images. Maybe I need to use SCCM 2012 R2 with WADK 8.1?
  8. Thanks for the reply. Yes, the user account is a member of Local Admins. I'm now checking through all the security roles again just in case.
  9. Hi All, I'm hoping someone can help me or at least point me in the right direction. I'm running Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 on WIndows Server 2012 Standard. Windows ADK for 8.1 is installed. Whenever I try to add a new Operating System Installer on the Primary site, I get the error message; "The specified path does not contain a valid operating system or you do not have permission to access it. Specify a valid path". In my SMSAdminUI.log file, I get "Failed to get the image property from the source WIM file due to error 80070002". This used to work, and I am unaware of any changes that occurred to stop it working (although obviously there has been something). What I have done; Rebooted server. Re-installed Windows ADK for 8.1. Re-installed WDS. Re-installed PXE point in SCCM. Upgraded from CU3 to CU4. Checked access rights to the share holding the Operating System Images, and checked that the user accounts are not locked out. Created a new share on the local server with Full Access rights for everyone, and tried to add the Image from there; same error message. Reset Primary site. Tried different images, including images that were previously successfully added. I haven't yet tried upgrading to SCCM 2012 R2 because our SCSM environment hasn't been upgraded, but since upgrading to CU4 didn't make any difference, I'm not sure that upgrading to R2 would have any effect either. Is there anything else I can try, or look at any other logfiles apart from SMSAdminUI.log? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Hi, That certainly sounds like a long time, I guess it depends on whether the client and the server are in the same site ? In any case, you can check the CAS.log file on the client. You should find it in %SYSTEMROOT%\CCM\Logs , and that will tell you where the software is being downloaded from. As for Foxit reader, it doesn't sound like it's installed. Again, the CAS.log file might give you more clues as to what happened. For information, the file in the Prefetch is used by Windows to speed up your system. Tim
  11. Hi, I had this problem when I had set "Allow users to interact with this program" on the Install procedure. You should find that setting on the "Environment" tab. Tim
  12. Well I think I've solved the problem. The clients in site S02 should get the site code S02, since S02 is also a Primary Site. It turns out my issue was with the Management Point. S02 had previously been a secondary site of S01 before I uninstalled it, and there was an old AD entry in S01 site for the S02 server. Once I deleted that, and re-installed the Management Point in S02, clients in site S02 were then able to auto-discover the site code for S02. I also confirmed that Software Distribution works for these clients, so it all looks good !
  13. Hi Guys, Firstly I would like to say that this forum is great, and has helped me a lot in the past, especially the guides. I find it has better information generally than Technet ! So, now onto my question, and I guess the problem is a failure in my understanding of the subject. I have 2 Primary sites, S01 and S02, where S01 is the parent of S02. I create a boundary on S02, assigning the Site Code that belongs to S02. As S01 is the Parent Site, it automatically receives this Boundary in its list of boundaries. Clients in the AD Site that S02 belongs to, are shown in ConfigMgr client as belonging to Site Code S02, which as far as I am concerned is correct. However, when I look at the clients themselves (ie Configuration Manager applet in Control Panel on the local PC) it is showing the Site Code as S01, and I am unable to manually change the Site Code to S02. So my question is, have I misunderstood what should happen ? Should clients in S02 site receive the Site Code for S01 ? Or have i understood correctly, and I have made a failure somewhere else ? Just for extra information, I have other Secondary Sites under S01 and they all work OK (but are Secondary Sites, unlike S02 which I installed as a Primary Site). As ever, many thanks for any help you can give me.
