Hello all,
I've registered few months back but I forgot to say hello. For this I'm really sorry though..
I'm doing a small configmgr project for my enterprise & I found this web is highly resourceful with visual assistance for beginner like me to understand the issue.
Keep up the good work anyweb!
regards,

ok, i was just too worried to start editing those .MOF files
btw, i have started by referring here:
Prerequisites for Asset Intelligence
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc161988.aspx
now i'm stuck at
How to Import Software License Information
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc161913.aspx
Question:
how and where do i get the XML file for this task?
-
Hi,
I'd like to start collecting license count for a collection of computers in my org.
I have enabled Asset Intelligence feature as per Part 1
but then when I view report "License 02C - License information on a specific computer", still there is no info of Licensed/Unlicensed product for any computer I tried
can you help to cover this topic?
Many thanks for any help rendered

and check http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb632618.aspx
particularly on #34. Configuration Manager Console -- > Client
and under the Notes section #Configuration Manager Remote Control Ports
if you able to query the port from admin's pc to client pc that should help
-
are you able to check whether port 135 is open from admin's computer?
-
You will have to create collection under quiries section to prompt for hostname, btw, where are you creating this ?
Try creating this collection/report:
http://wmug.co.uk/bl...n-computer.aspx
and here is summary of computer information http://eskonr.wordpr...cm-web-reports/
Moving this post under collection section.
select SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Manufacturer, SMS_G_System_PC_BIOS.SerialNumber, SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Model, SMS_R_System.LastLogonUserName from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_PC_BIOS on SMS_G_System_PC_BIOS.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId inner join SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM on SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_R_System.Name = ##PRM:SMS_R_System.Name##
awesome... this code is now working for me
thank you

Hi,
I have this query to retreive machine model & S/N.
select SMS_G_System_PC_BIOS.SerialNumber, SMS_R_System.Name, SMS_R_System.LastLogonUserName, SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Manufacturer, SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Model from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_PC_BIOS on SMS_G_System_PC_BIOS.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId inner join SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM on SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where System.Name = ##PRM:SMS_R_System.Name##
but it does not return any result
but how do i make it to prompt for particular machine hostname only?
thanks in advanced

if i get time to do this I will, but right now Iäm too busy sorry.
meanwhile if you have Microsoft Connect access then download this new AMT Deployment Guide
hi anyweb,
i came in late, the URL to Microsoft Connect already expired
it would be nice if you have AMT/vPO config. documented here as i know it's slightly complicated as you'll need certificate server to be set up
this is a feature i'd like to add to my SCCM but still failing at this moment
Primary child server failed
in Configuration Manager 2007
Posted
Hi Niall.. hi all!
Please advice me when my primary child server failed to connect to Central Site, where or which log files should I look to have this issue fixed.
I'm in the middle of package distribution from Central Site DP to Primary Child DP when suddenly there's power failure.
When power resumes an hour later, I found that Primary Child won't download/sync package anymore from Central Site where it was a successful operation before the incident.
What have I tried:
1. sync Central Site to Primary Child relationship using preinst.exe /synchild & /syncparent
2. delete pending jobs using preinst.exe /deljob
3. check .PCK files under SMSPKG folder & found all PCK files are at the same size with Central Site
4. site repair. but after a few attemps now the site repair wizard produce an error and it won't launch anymore
there's no backup done for this server as it's a new setup/install.
some log files I looked at:
from hman.log
from despool.log
from recoverymanager.log
from distmgr.log
Any kind advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks.
