Post R3 SCCM Deployment

Question

I discovered this morning that windows 7 or windows 7 sp1 requires SP2 for sccm as the cause for ccmsetup not being able to install .

At the time I was trying to do it manually (ccmsetup.exe etc...)

I thought this odd as I remembered having to install SP2 as part of the sequence for installation of SCCM, which i completed a few months ago.

So i went and checked the version details for SCCM on my server.. 4.00.6487.2000, R3 - Yes. (Site Server : Local[iEDUBAPP010], SQL Server : Remote Server[iEDUBAPP001])

Other than a WSUS SYNC Component alert everything else looks fine.

My only package for now is a office 2007 and that seems to work /deploy fine for vista machines.

the details of the ccmsetup log in c:\ccmsetup\ on the windows 7 machine shows :

so i guess my question is do i just reapply SP2 or do i have to resort to a complete clean install...

note: when i setup this I would have done it in this order, im nearly sure i did it that way:

SCCM with SP1

R2

SP2

R3

Upgrade to SP2 guide - http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1360-updating-sccm-2007-sp2-rc-or-beta-to-sp2-final/

It seems somehow i installed R3 but the sccm version is showing the build number/version ending in 2000 and not 2001 which would indicated sp2 installed.

**pulls a clump of hair out... argh! * takes a deep breath...

Im thinking if i cant remove r3 , step back, and then try install sp2 i will have to start from scratch.

I seemed to be able to uninstall R3

The version numbered stay same. 4.00.6487.2000

I found http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_Center_Configuration_Manager shows the version/build numbers

I saw the mention of KB 977203 and went looking for it and upon attempting to install this on the SCCM server I got message saying the build must be 2195 to 6005.

the patch file is SCCM2007-SP1-KB977203-X64ENU.EXE

**resists urge to pull more hair...

any suggestions welcome...
