am not clear on what you needed .Are you looking for how to create WIM file using MDT? OR looking for how to create VHD using WIM file ?

Let me see if i can describe it better.

Let us say Bob starts working for us and is given a laptop with Windows 7 and all apps. now in 6 months Bob's laptop breaks the wireless card breaks and has to send back in. now before we send it i want a task sequence that takes and makes a VHD of his machine and stores it on the network, where i specify, then i give Bob an upgraded or downgraded model to work with while his is getting fixed. i take the VHD from the network and copy it to the new laptop and it shows up as another drive so now he isnt missing anything while his is off being fixed. i how that helps explain what i want, just a task sequence where i can choose where to backup the drive, in VHD format, to a certain network area.

Well the idea is that Bob would not need the laptop and can have a backup of his machine if he needs something. the wim idea is great, dont get me wrong, it saves on space but cant be mounted inside of windows if a user needs a file. also, if the hardware is different, for example a HP laptop and now he gets a dell then the image wont work.
