Using a Local Admin Account that is Different From Administrator When In Litetouch

Hi All,

 

I have a server 2008r2 enterprise /w wds, and mdt 2012 beta 2 that I use for deployments, is there a way that I can use an account other then administrator when deploying. In the wim images i have precreated local admin service accounts and would rather use those or one of them then re-enable the administrator account.

MDT allows credentials to be supplied for each phase of deployment. The credentials used to access the network share from the WinPE setup environment can be supplied in the bootstrap.ini file (which can be found in the properties for the deployment share in MDT) and the credentials supplied to the LiteTouch prompts can be supplied in the customsettings.ini file including the credentials used to join the domain. An overview of these settings can be found in the document Deploying Windows 7 with MDT 2010 – Basic Scenarios available from Microsoft.

 

Specifically you will be looking to add these settings to bootstrap.ini:

UserID=Administrator

UserDomain=CONTOSO

UserPassword=Pa$$w0rd

And these settings to customsettings.ini for Domain Join:

JoinDomain=CONTOSO

DomainAdmin=Administrator

DomainAdminDomain=CONTOSO

DomainAdminPassword=Pa$$w0rd
