SRKegger Posted February 11, 2014 Report post Posted February 11, 2014 DPM 2012 and deduplication question here. It's my understanding that the volume DPM uses for storage should not be deduplicated. I have a client who is very concerned about storage space, or lack thereof. Because of that they have latched onto the buzzword of "deduplication" as a solution. What solutions are out there that would reduce storage space on the volume DPM uses (which is an iSCSI array in this case) especially in comparison to solutions Backup Exec has to offer? AdinE Posted February 28, 2014 Report post Posted February 28, 2014 Interesting question. Here is an article about DPM and data de-duplication: https://blogs.technet.com/b/dpm/archive/2013/04/29/sc-2012-sp1-dpm-efficient-protection-of-windows-2012-dedup-volume.aspx. Note that it states: "DPM server should be running on Windows 2012 and Dedup role need to be installed. Note that the Dedup capability should not be enabled on the DPM storage (replica or shadow copy volumes). "
