I am recieving some type of SQL error when attempting a site backup on our primary site, i dont understand why this is not working. Any help would be appreciated. I have posted the log below:

Im no coder, but the remark (') is not working when describing the tools function, it is still showing all of the tool description text when the tool is run, also using % as the tool states, does not provide a list of available packages to be run...any insight?

Alright i have forefront now emailing alerts properly to all users that need to recieve them. My next question is this. Does anyone know how to customize the e-mail notification message? Is it contained with a .xml file? Can it be modified through the SCCM / Forefront GUI?

The information in the above article pointed out the issue to me. You may not have an email alert set on both the parent and child collection. I had an alert set on the parent collection emailing to all admins and each subsequent alert on each school was emailing to the technician responsible for that school. I have now set it up such that the email alerts are configured on each school and admins are on the email list for each alert but only the techs responsible for each school are listed with them.

I am having an extremely frustrating issue with Forefront 2010 integrated on SCCM 2007 R3, i have set up e-mail alerts and would like these alerts to be sent to our computer technicians. My alert structure is setup as follows:

 

Collections:

 

- #Location Based collections

- School Abbreviation (ie. WDCS)

(I have about 40 of these abbreviated school names)

 

User Accounts:

 

- SCCM Admins:

Rights:

- All Rights

 

- IT Techs - Contains computer technician (delegated users)

Rights:

- Class: Collection, Permissions: Read, Use Remote Tools, Read Resource

- Class: Package, Permissions: Read

- Class: Advertisement, Permissions: Read

- Class: Status Message, Permissions: Read

- Class: Site, Permissions: Read

- Class: Query, Permissions: Read, Modify, Create

- Class: Report, Permissions: Read

 

Anyone who is a memaber of SCCM Admins is successfully recieving e-mail notifications from forefront, however anyone in the IT techs group is not. If i send a test e-mail it sends to all users regardless of group memberhip. This is leading me to believe that member of the it techs group simply do no thave required permissions to recieve forefront email notifications regarding malware outbreaks even though they have read permissions on class: report.

 

Does anyone have any suggestions, is there any further information that i can provide?

Is its own task sequence being run through run advertised programs in windows or are you running it by itself through OSD? Also sorry for the mixup but i posted the wrong command, it should be xcopy not copy and enclose your paths with quotes see above as i edited my previous post.

Are you executing an msi directly from within the task sequence? a .cmd or a .bat? programs are designed to run from the distribution point directly during OSD. Have you tried writing a script to copy the source directory to a temp folder locally and then executing the msi from there? You could try the following in a batchfile:

 

xcopy "%~dp0*.*" /e /s /y "%TEMP%\(program source)\"

cd "%TEMP%\(program source)"

(msiexec command to execute msi goes here, ie msiexec /i pathtomsi)

From what i understand you should not be entering the KMS licensing key. The KMS key should be added to a KMS licensing server. The server then will automatically dish out the key to clients as they begin communicating with it. This is outlined in anywebs post, found here:

The only key you enter on the fly, into a sysprep would more than likely be an MAK key. Although if you have been licensed a KMS key then setting up KMS licensing on a server would be the route you need to take. I would theorise that the reason it is locking up on you is becuase sysprep is not accepting the KMS key as valid and thus freezing.

 

Also, i have no idea if the key above is actually your valid key or not, but im not sure i would be posting it in forums

It still functions exactly like sysprep only it adds the ability to add these prompts to the image as you have requested. I have used it successfully with our dual-boot Mac / Windows machines with outstanding success. [SCCM Auto Documentation Script]

I have posted a link below to a handy script that i found, if you execute this script from the command line of a computer running Word 2007 or Word 2010 the script will execute and prompt you fro your primary site server name. Providing the FQDN the script will then proceed to grab and parse all SCCM information from your site into a detailed word document complete with a neatly organized table of contents (I ended up with 287 pages of information and our SCCM rollout is only half complete)

As for Artem's suggestion, i have to say i never even thought of the disk partitioning process in the OSD task sequence with that kind of logic, as much as it doesn't make sense...it actually does. I have made the necessary suggested change and am currently testing, i will let you know what my results are.

In our environment we push out a base windows 7 image to our clients. We typically lockdown access to the c: drive and as a result some programs such as adobe photoshop require a scratch disk. Our solution was to deploy a secondary partition along with our OSD. 90% of the drive would be devoted to the OS and 10% devoted to the Secondary partition, however upon completion of our OSD we have found that while the space has been allocated sufficently and correctly the second partiion has not be formatted to include all the available drive space and some of it remains unallocated as seen in the attached screenshot, does anyone know how it can be instructed to the OSD to use the full 10% of the second partition for the second volume?
