  1. Hi: Let's say I deployed Firefox 7 via SCCM 2012 to all my clients. Now I would like to upgrade all my clents to Firefox 10. What are the SCCM best practices to accomplish this? Do I need to create a brand new application deployment for Firefox 10 or can I edited the Firefox 7 deployment? Thanks. Mark
  2. Hi: During my initial testing I was using my old Dell Latitude D820 laptop. Everything seems to be work fine (including PXE boot, installs, etc.). Now I have a new Dell Optiplex 990. When I do a PXE boot and press F12 the PXE boot starts fine. I see the WinPE screen and then I see Preparing Network Connections and then the system immediately reboots itself. I assume that the Optiplex 990 network drivers are not in the boot image. So in SCCM 2012 how do I inject network drivers into the Boot image for the Optiplex 990 so that PXE works correctly in SCCM 2012? I have found a Microsoft article for SCCM 2007 (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680705.aspx) but it seems SCCM 2012 is a bit different. Thanks. Mark
  3. Well I was able to get this resolved by doing the following: (1) after making the changes suggested I decided to roll back to a snapshot I did before I did the above changes. (2) Then I went to each of the Boot images and clicked Update Distribution Points again (3) booted my PXE client and it started to work Wahoo! Anyways I really appreciated the pointers and help you provided. Thanks. Mark Thanks

  5. Hi: There are no DHCP Options configured because according to the Microsoft article (see below) these DHCP options are no longer preferred. This is why I asked my Networking team to use ip-helper tables. Configuring Your Router to Forward Broadcasts (recommended) You can update the routing tables for your networking equipment to make sure that DHCP traffic is directed correctly. For example, you can use the ip helper-address command if you have a Cisco router. When configured correctly, all DHCP broadcasts from the client computer will be directed to a DHCP server and a Windows Deployment Services server. (Note that the requirement is not to rebroadcast the packet onto other network segments, but rather to forward the packet to only the specified recipients.) If the booting client, the DHCP server, and the Windows Deployment Services server are all located on the same network segment, you should not have to configure your router. The client’s DHCP broadcasts will reach both the DHCP server and the Windows Deployment Services server. However, if either the DHCP server or the Windows Deployment Services server are on a different network segment than the client (or if they are on the same network segment but the network is controlled by a switch or router), Microsoft recommends that you update your router. After the client computer has obtained its IP address, it contacts the Windows Deployment Services server directly (again using DHCP packets) to obtain the name and path of the NBP to be downloaded. The following are the specific changes that you need to make: All DHCP broadcasts by client computers on User Data Protocol (UDP) port 67 should be forwarded directly to both the DHCP server and the Windows Deployment Services server. If the router has a built in firewall, you need to allow traffic through UDP port 4011 (as well as any UDP ports used for TFTP and multicasting as specified on the Network Settings tab of server properties in the Windows Deployment Services MMC snap-in). In SCCM 2012 RC the WDS service only starts when I have PXE disabled. If I keep PXE enabled and reboot the server WDS stays in a Starting state. Once I see that WDS is started I go and enable PXE. Mark
  6. Hi: I get the following messages on my PXE client: PXE-E53: No boot filename received PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM Operating System not found ---- As I mentioned above before I started testing SCCM 2012 RC I was testing the native WDS. The WDS server has/had the exact same IP address as the SCCM 2012 server. All my PXE clients were working against the WDS server without any issue. As soon as SCCM 2012 RC came out I shut down the WDS server and started on my SCCM 2012 RC install. Everything in SCCM 2012 RC is working fine up to the PXE part. So just to verify I just shutdown my SCCM 2012 RC server and started up my WDS server. Once WDS was up I started a PXE client and the PXE client was able to boot correctly and connect the WDS server and successfully install an operating system. I shut down the WDS server and started the SCCM 2012 RC server again and same issue. Mark
  7. Hi: My PXE setup is the following (not working): - Enable PXE support for clients (checked) - Allow the distribution point to respond to PXE requests (checked) - Enable unknown computer support (checked) - Require a password when computer use PXE (unchecked) - User device affinity: Allow user device affinity with automatic approval - Respond to PXE requests on all network interfaces When PXE is enabled and I run netstat -ano I see UDP67, UDP6( and UDP4011 all listening. When I unchecked PXE and reboot and then run netstat -ano only UDP69 is listening but WDS service is started. The Windows Firewall is off and no hardware firewall exists in front of the SCCM server. The SCCM server is on a different VLAN than the client I am PXE booting. We use Infoblox as our DHCP Appliance and out router is Cisco. My networking team configured the ip-helper table to have the SCCM server's ip address. Mark
  8. Hi: Thanks. Canceling out of the wizard and starting again fix my issue. I am getting the bug that n00blar posted - when I need to reboot my SCCM server I need to uncheck enable PXE. When the server comes back I re-enable this option. Unfortunately though in my setup I always get these errors: PXE-E53: No boot filename received PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM I asked my networking team to add the SCCM server's ip address to the Cisco routers ip-helper tables. When I was running just the standalone WDS, PXE worked (ip-helper address was the same as the SCCM). Mark
  9. I am getting the following error for Step 9 (enable the network access account): "Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800704C3)." I am usingusername DOMAIN\SCCMNAA and the network share is \\sccm\sources I get this error after I click Test connection. Anyway to resolve this error? Thanks, Mark
