Hello, We are just starting down the path of SCCM and building out a DEV environment. Will install 1702 then upgrade to 1710 and then possibly 1802. Looking at the Hardware and Server requirements wondering if anyone could shed any light into their builds. There are a number of posts out there talking about the (2) different install scenarios. Do more people install SQL locally on the Primary site server or do they install it on a remote server - which could be beneficially if you're looking at clustering your SQL environment. Checking your notes your domain doesn't have the root domain - which is what's hanging me up. I extend the schema and no log was created, but it states it was "success" from the command line? From doing some reading I found that you can only extend the schema once in the Forest. ABCR.domain.com - where schema role resides ABC.domain.com - is where the primary site will be stored + this is where I created the 'System Management' container using ADSI edit. ZT

Hopefully I'll explain this correctly. We are currently planning on setting up SCCM CB 1702 in our DEV environment. The domain itself is a little strange (or at least to me). There is an empty root (absr.domain.com) where the schema admin resides - was setup way before my time. Then the actual DEV domain (abc.domain.com). Tried extended the schema there and it failed stating I didn't have the needed ID privileges. I then logged in as the 'root' admin and ran it and from the command line. It stated it was successful, but it didn't create the log file on the C:\ drive? Is there a way to use
