  1. I have Task Sequences setup for Windows 7 x86 and x64. During the Task Sequence, I have it applying Windows updates as a step and is successful. The Windows updates step was taking quite a bit of time so I decided to add the updates directly to the image using the following instructions: http://www.gerryhampsoncm.blogspot.ie/2013/04/sccm-2012-sp1-step-by-step-guide-part_5.html Applying the updates took awhile but the Scheduled Updates Status was successful. Now when trying to image the PC, I get the following error: Task Sequence: xxxxx has failed with the error code (0x80070032). I've done some research and it seems like it could be a disk partition issue. I've removed and re-created all partitions and still get the error. Also, when I use a previous image that did not contain the updates and the process works without error. I do not believe this to be a partition issue. I am running SCCM 2012 SP1 but not on the latest cumulative update. Any ideas why adding the updates directly to an image would cause this error? If i run the updates as a seperate step, it works fine.
  2. To get an application to install at login, I tried this but still not working: Users leave for the day and computers are available. I send an email for users to leave thier computers powered on but logged off. I configure an Application Deployment schedule to begin at 6pm and then set an Installation deadline at 8pm. I figure this will allow the application to download to the cache and then when the user logs on in the morning, it is past the 8pm deadline so the package should run. During my testing, I cannot get the package to download to the cache while the user is logged off. I am not using any maintenance windows. If the user is logged in, the install begins randomly within an hour. I do not want my users to leave with a logged in computer. Not sure what else to do. Any ideas?
  3. I've recently taken over the SCCM responsibilites for our company and inherited an SCCM2012 install. I was able to upgrade to SP1 and got OS deployments with PXE working. I've also viewed training from Train Signal. I am still very new to SCCM. Now I am moving on to deploying my first applications... I've built a CRM Outlook Rollup application (not package) using an .exe with command-line switches. I've made it a required install and it successfully installs on my test computers. I've used other deployment applications in the past and curious to know if the following is possible with SCCM2012 SP1. I don't see these options in the SCCM GUI. Have the application install at user logon. My example above is a CRM plugin for Outlook. I would like the install to kick off when the user first logs into Windows while Outlook is closed. Currently, my required install automatically kicks off the install when it receives the deployment from SCCM which is pretty random. This could interupt a user while they're working. I want to force the install at logon so using the Software Center is not a viable option. Have a pop up box to inform a user that an install will be occurring and to keep Outlook closed during the install. A user clicks OK and the install begins. I'm thinking this step may require putting the install in a bat file with some VBscripting but I'm curious to know if this can be handled inside of SCCM. Also, if anyone has any real-world best practices or resources for deploying apps to users that would be helpful for me review, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
