  1. Called Microsoft Support and was able to assist with this issue. My main problem was the smsbkup.ctl file was missing from the inboxes\smsbkup.box.
  2. Hi All, I am trying to perform a site backup using ConfigMGR Service but failing. The SMS_Site_VSS_Writer, SMS_SITE_BACKUP, and Volume Shadow Copy service are unable to remain on. Every time I manually run each service, they turn on and 5 seconds later turns off. I looked into the smsbkup.log file and it is indicating that the "SMS Writer service either does not exist or is not running." Has anyone else experienced this issue or have any insight as to how to resolve it or can point me to the right direction?
  3. Hi, I have been trying to re-sync my SUP but have been unsuccessful. Thus far I have removed the SUP from SCCM, rebooted, removed the WSUS and IIS role, rebooted, added the WSUS and IIS role, rebooted, added the SUP in SCCM with ports 8530 and 8531. So far no avail. Below I have provided a screenshot of the sync error within my wsyncmgr.log file which looks like its pointing to .DLL file that is not being registered. I dug a bit and found the SUPSetup.log and the wsusmsp.dll is being registered. So I did some searching in the registry files and could not find the CLSID class entry the below log is looking for. Not sure if I am doing something but any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Thanks for the reply GarthMJ. We are trying to get CSS back on the phone but they see it as the site is back up and I am able to access the Console once again so that's their way of saying "The site is up and we cannot troubleshoot any further issues; its out of our scope for this support call". Even though all components were at fully functional prior to the upgrade.
  5. Hi all, I recently had my primary site restored by Microsoft CSS team. Everything seems to be fine except for a few things. But the main issue I can't seem to figure out is deploying my applications to any of my clients. I am able to distribute them to my distribution point but can't deploy them. There's nothing in the distmgr.log file that indicates any issues with distribution nor do I see any activity on the client side within Appenforce.log or AppDiscovery.log. It looks like it just does not initiate or run. I am able deploy and install Packages just fine but even that is having some issues such as not appearing any entry within the "Deployments" collections tab; only shows "No items found". Added a screenshot below for this issue. Can anyone shed some light as to what is going on with unable to deploy applications? Thanks in advance.
  6. Thank you all for your suggestion. I reached out to MS CSS and were able to recover my site back to operational status. Now I know to be much more carefully when applying SP1 updates to SCCM.
  7. I did not unfortunately. I will contact them but I was wondering if it has anything to do with exporting the ADR upgrade db?? During my researching for upgrading SCCM a few months back I thought I bumped into someone suggesting to disable/delete the ADRs prior to upgrading to SP1. Do you think its worth giving it a try with a copy of my db? Or should I throw in the towel and just contact MS CSS?
  8. Hi All, I am trying to upgrade my SCCM 2012 R2 to the new SP!. Unfortunately I have bumped into a huge road block and now I'm stuck. After running the prereq, the upgrade begins to install and errors out at Creating SQL Database. I took a snapshot of the error below. Has anyone encountered this issue before? If so, what did you do to resolve it? I've already tried doing a site recover but that too is experiencing issues.
  9. Hi All, I have a very big problem and wonder if anyone out there can assist. I attempted to upgrade my SCCM 2012 R2 to SP1 and ran into some errors that made me resort back to a recovery db. Unfortunately, the recovery is receiving the below error message. I can't seem to find any resolution to getting my DB back up and running. Every time I run the console I am receiving the "Configuration Manager cannot connect to the site" error. Can anyone assist?
  10. Hi All, I am trying to run Lenovo Thin Installer during my OSD imaging process. I am successful on applying the drivers to a PC that I choose to join to the domain without any issues (even though it takes a while for this step to finish). However, I seem to be unable to get Thin Installer to run when I choose Workgroup during the OSD process. I am able to install applications during the OSD with Workgroups ticked and I do have SYSTEM account as well as EVERYONE account as full control over the repository Thininstaller is using but no luck. I am able to log into the workgroup PC and run the command locally with success but unable to during OSD. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
  11. Hi all, I am having a very difficult time to setup a Software Update TS to actually install all available updates during OSD process. I have notice that it sometimes work but most of the time it does not install updates and TS just continues the rest of the process. I have looked online for ways to apply all updates and found the below cmd to add during my TS to scan for updates. However, I keep receiving the below error message when running this cmd. Any ideas as to why I am receiving the "Invalid Verb Switch" when running this cmd? I receive the same error message when I try to run it locally on the imaged PC. Also I have my Software Update Group deployed to "All Unknown Computers" collection; not sure if I have to deploy it to another collection to be available to known PCs that I want to re-image. Is this is not an ideal solution than can anyone advise what would be the best solution to apply software updates during OSD? I know about the offline service feature with the image but I would really like to know how to apply updates during OSD. I have also attached a screenshot of my TS. WMIC /namespace:\\root\ccm path sms_client CALL TriggerSchedule “{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000113}” /NOINTERACTIVE
  12. I'll re-run the cleanup wizard again but did so 4 times already with no change on the volume drive. I also removed the expired and superseded updates from the deployment packages but no luck in freeing some space on the drive. Do I have to perform a re-sync in the All Software Updates? The WSUS folder is reaching 60GB of updates. Also, when I do a search under "All Software Updates" with Expired filter on, I still see some downloaded updates but no under deployment.
  13. I just ran the following command (.\Clean-CMSoftwareUpdateGroup.ps1 -SiteServer CAS01 -SUGName "Critical and Security - Windows Clients 2014-10-18 00:29:04" -ShowProgress -RemoveContent -Verbose) from the below website but all it does is remove the software from the software update group. It does not free up any disc space on the server. http://www.scconfigmgr.com/2014/11/18/remove-expired-and-superseded-updates-from-a-software-update-group-with-powershell/
  14. I already ran the Server Clean up within the WSUS role but did not free up any disc space.
  15. Hi, I have been trying to delete superseded and expired updates from the SUP. I have already did a filter search for Expired updates, right-click, Edit Membership, and unselected the software update groups the expired updates are part of and re-ran a full synchronization . I also performed a Server Cleanup within the WSUS role but it still does not delete the expired or superseded updates from the WSUS container on the server. It takes a lot of server storage and we would like to alleviate some of that storage. Anyone here has any thoughts or recommendation to perform? Thanks in advance.
  16. Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to auto download new device drivers from a vendor, particularly Lenovo's website, when there is a newer version of the drivers detected? Would anyone know if there is a feature that SCCM may have or a third party software that would be able to auto download device drivers from Lenovo's website? Thanks in advance.
  17. Nevermind got it to work. It is possible to indicate an entry within UDI Wizard to point to no OU and it will default to the Computer group..Thanks all for you input!
  18. Thanks Jorgen, the netsetup.log indicated that the issue I was experiencing was that I was selecting 'Computer' AD group, during the OSD, to place my PC in but this process is not possible. It was telling me that the OU does not exist since Computer is not an OU. Once I selected a different OU, the computer was joined and all the applications were installed, thanks Peter and Jorgen. Is there a way to select the Computers "OU" to add newly joined PCs during the OSD process? Not sure if leaving a selecting in the UDI Wizard blank will it know to join it to the default Computer "OU"
  19. Thanks Peter I will attempt this today. However, I also notice that the PC does not get joined to the domain when it reboots into Windows. So not sure if this variable will assist me with that issue? Also where in my TS should I place this variable?
  20. It did restart during the 'Setup Windows and ConfigMgr' step but then continues the same step after the restart. And yes, all of the X1 carbons here have SSD drives; including the new X1 carbon.
  21. Hi, I keep receiving the below error message during OSD when it hits the Install application step. We just received the new X1 Carbon laptops and have imported the NIC drivers from Lenovo's website. Earlier model of the X1 Carbon are able to successfully image without any errors. Not sure if this is related to the NIC drivers or any other drivers that I imported for this model. It says it can't find the Management Point but it clearly indicates the management point site below the error message. So im not sure why it can't find it when every other PC here can detect it and complete the installation. I've tried manually inputting the MP in the Setup Config Mgr step but the PC does not get added to the domain. Has anyone else here encountered this issue before? Any suggestion or assistance would be greatly appreciated it.
  22. Got it, I figured that was the case. But will it continue to deploy at the same time the following Tuesday?
