  1. Andy Thanks very much for your reply, I am looking into this as I type, again thanks very much.
  2. Hi I am chasing something that I read on a forum but didn’t save it as I know I should have ) I was looking into the ability to use windows authentication at the PXE stage of a remote install. We currently have a password set on the PXE boot, but have to tell others the password, this is an issue as security is tight here. We have SCCM 2012 in place and we are moving from XP to Windows 7 ENT, we have a lot of PCs to cover and that are in a wide area, so at the moment they have to be swapped out with PCs that have already been imaged, this would allow us to upgrade at the customer location. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way where we could build in a form of windows authentication instead of relying only on a password. This would then allow members of the desktop install team to be able to do the installs, based on their group membership. It would also allow us to allow PXE boot across the whole of our network, rather than to pick up end points that required imaging, to be brought back to base to be installed then taken back. I was reading that it maybe it was possible to do this with a script or something like that, but lost the thread at some stage. Thanks for your help
  3. Hi That seemed to work great, one thing though, I noticed it ended up in the software center! I would prefer it to run in the background without the user needing to go there and hit install. Can anyone explain how I can do that? Cheers
  4. Thanks willisj318 and SCCMentor for the information, I will try it today and let you know Again thanks very much for your timely help )
  5. Hi I want to uninstall chrome from some PCs in our domain. I have updated the the old chrome install with the corporate version as it adds it to the right pleases and it's available in "add and remove programs" as I read that it installs it to the users profile unless the corporate version is used. I thought I would use a uninstall program delivered via SCCM 2012 to get rid of the app but it's not doing it. I get an error saying: There was a problem applying changes to the software, you can try again....blar blar blar. Then the error information is Error 0x80070002(-2147024894) I have created a package with a "Standard Program" and when it comes to the command line, I added the following: MsiExec.exe /X{FBD50733-2ABE-3D23-88B4-7B0C0A0ADDA0} I tried running this from one of the affected PCs via a command prompt and it pops up with a dialog box asking if I sure I want to uninstall chrome, so I'm thinking I must be close? I did wonder if that was the issue and that it failed because the dialog couldn't be answered, I tried the q/ and /quiet switches but still no use. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong please Thanks very much
  6. I had the same problem, I pulled the update point roll from the server. Uninstalled WSUS as well, then started from fresh. I installed both the hot fixes and don't forget DO NOT CONFIGURE WSUS MANUALLY! You have to install WSUS only, the SUP will configure the rest. The settings must be configured in the SUP roll and not WSUS. Hope it helps
  7. Hi. Thanks for clearing that up, although I thought this was a choice in 2007 sure I had seen it somewhere. But anyway thanks
  8. Hi Is there an easy way to install software to just one PC in SCCM 2012, I know you can do it with right click tools in the 2007 version and having installed the right click tools in 2012 I can't find it. Has it been taken away or just moved. Thanks for your help
  9. We have installed the configmgr agent on our Citrix servers, but would like to stop the shortcut to the software center being displayed in the all users programs menu. Is there a way of stopping this within the client settings? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Querys to go..

Hi Garth I was thinking more about collecting machines for groups, returning specific results based on PC resources. Showing the last time they logged in, things like that really. Things to make an Admins job easier. I guess we could even use this post for others to post their favorite SCCM and other WQL queries. Cheers

    Querys to go..

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows of a good resource to learn about "queries" I would like to know the basics and get a better knowledge and understanding of how to put them together. There seems to be a lot of choices in the drop down lists and I'm looking at finding more about these. I know there are a lot of pages out there that show you certain scenarios but I would quite like to get a good grasp myself. Thanks for your help
