  1. http://www.myitforum.com/forums/m_177370/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm this was my problem. I had DOMAIN\SMSread as the Network Access Account and did not have that account created (I had created SMSuser instead) After I made that change - I updated all distribution points and it started working!!!! Currently formatting C:, but at least it got that far. THANKS FOR ALL OF THE HELP!!!! (I will be back )
  2. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums...4-51fc677571ec/ This person is having a similar issue, but it doesnt say if they fixed it or not.
  3. Also, I ran an ipconfig /all while in F8 mode and it looks like it is using the correct NIC driver that I added (Broadcom). All networking functions seem to work ok that I try.
  4. I have re-created that package and now it is complaining it cant get to the next package (IHR0004), which is the boot.wim. I can run net use m: \\s-iihr21\smspkgf$ It does ask me for a username and password though. That is why I was looking at the user permissions....
  5. What should the share permissions be on the \\server\SMSPKGF$ share be? When I look at the properties it says: No permissions have been assigned for this object. Warning: this is a potential security risk because anyone who can access this object can take ownership of it. The object’s owner should assign permissions as soon as possible. That is the share permissions. The file permissions have users with Read access and admin with full control.
  6. Yes I can ping the server. I also ran FTP to get the logs off originally, so I am pretty sure the networking is ok. I have updated all of my distribution points, but I will try that again and give it a shot. Thanks.
  7. What should the contents of the IIHR0003 folder be? It looks like mine is the Configuration Manager Client Installation Package.
  8. Ah, reading was never one of my specialties. Sorry about that. At least you were nice about it - thanks. Here is the log file. I agree it looks like a networking error. That share is visible to me on other systems, but I am not sure exactly what file it is looking for there. smsts.log

I dont see any errors there. Are there other log files I should be looking at?
  10. After a total re-install things look a bit better, but I am getting stuck in a different place now. I am getting to the "Initializing Windows PE" with my background BMP image. Then it sits for a few seconds with just the image showing - then reboots. It is not getting to the Build and Capture Task sequence. How can I check to see if it is being advertised correctly?
  11. I may have things so screwed up on this server now that it may be a good idea to start over......
  12. Ah ha... There is this in the Event log: Faulting application wmiprvse.exe, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791950f, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791adec, exception code 0xc0000374, fault offset 0x00000000000a6e97, process id 0xe64, application start time 0x01c95ef53418fe68.
  13. Rebooting now. I did have a problem with WSUS getting the service "lost", but I think I found the "fix" on that to remove the msi from the machine so it does not try to re-install when the SCCM server is backed up. I can give you more info. What would you like?
  14. Not that I know of. Like I said earlier, the PXE boot was working, but I got the original error. Not it is not even getting to PXE (with no changes to DHCP or other servers)
  15. No the domain controller is another box along with the DHCP server (same subnet though).
  16. SATA mode options are "Normal" or "Combination". Tried Both with same results. I started over and made sure I got the boot.wim file from the Server 2008 DVD (In the begining I used the Vista DVD, and others before I tried the Server 2008). Now I get as far as the PXE prompt that shows the MAC and GUID, but get the "No Boot Filename Received" message and it stops. I have cleared the last PXE advertisement. The Component Status for SMS_PXE_SERVICE_POINT looks ok to me - just says the service started (no errors). Is there a better log file that would show more information?
  17. Well I am trying to capture the Image first - Dell Optiplex GX620 is my test machine Well, I get the PXE Screen and then it kicks into the Windows is loading files...... screen. Then the error message appears that I wrote in the original post. I did enable the PE command line support, but I cant get to it before I get the error.
  18. No, I am not testing in VM environment. The DVD I am using is the real deal
  19. I have followed your instructions for configuring SCCM2007 and deploying Vista to a tee but have gotten stuck right after the PXE boot with the following error: Windows PE cannot start because the actual SYSTEMROOT directory (X:\WINDOWS) is different from the configured one (X:\$Windows.~BT\Windows). This can be configured with the peimg /targetpath command. Please consult the documentation for more details. Press the OK button or close this message to reboot. So, I did what it has asked me to do, but I am not 100% sure which PE I should modify. This is a 100% new installation of SCCM 2007 (no upgrade from SMS) I appreciate any help and have nothing but good things to say about all of the great stuff on this forum. added info: the boot.wim I got is from the Server 2008 DVD (sources\boot.wim)
