  1. That's the main issue. Honestly, i think this was the right moment to clean some garbage, and head to this new version with a clean infraestructure. (Windows Xp Machines, Collections, Software Updates, some packages/applications no longer needed, etc..) The main question is that, in the process of migrating everything important to the newer version, will i have some problems with having the 2 servers online with diferent versions? My expectations (if possible) Now SCCM 2012 Process of Migration SCCM 2012 and Current Branch working side by side (No boundaries configured in CB) Migration Completed Current Branch SCCM alive and 2012 decomissioned Cheers
  2. Hi, Need some advice from the experts in an upgrade scenario, from System Center 2012 SP1 to the Current Branch version. We are responsible for the administration of a medium scale company (5000 hosts), and have implemented System Center 2012 SP1 site, with a similar configuration. 1 Server Management Point Site server Reporting Server Distribution Point Software Update Point 2 Server Distribution Point All integrated with SQL Server 2008 SP3 We were given a new box and asked the job of upgrading our SCCM infraestructure, and there are some questions/possible issues i'd like to be explained. 1- What's the best approach? Upgrading directly from 2012 to Current Branch, or build a current branch from scratch and import the content? 2 - Building one from scratch will be more time consuming, but will not import perhaps some junk from our current site, and maybe eliminate some noob flaws commited in the past, design things more perfectly, etc.. But can i have both 2012 and Current Branch coexisting in the same domain, till everything is imported to the new one? I know we have to pay attention to boundaries. I want to ear from your experience the pros and cons before choosing a way. Any help would be much apreciated. Cheers
  3. Hi, Due to some lost machines on our network, i came up with an ideia...possibly a stupid (or not the best) one My idea was to create a script to run everyday through scheduled task on the client computer. The basic function of the script would be to ping a domain controller to check the presence of the computer on our offices... If the computer cannot ping a domain controller for 4 months (let's say a smart guy took a laptop to "work" at home), it would run an action, (lock computer, delete something, put it in loop, something) to force the user to bring back the computer to out IT team. Any ideas where i should start? Any different approaches? Any suggestion will be much appreciated Greetings,
  4. Working with SCCM 2012 and deploying operating systems via OSD for about 6 months, to baremetal and replacement machines (that were already sccm clients), is raising some discovery issues and we just can´t figure it out. SCCM Client is installed by the OSD process, after that it becomed a "Client Yes" in the Configuration Manager Console. Than, when the Active Directory System Discovery is triggered, the same machine is pulled to the database, with a "Client No" record. How can we avoid having 2 records for the same machine, based on the name? Will we have to stop the system discovery, as new machines are only installed by OSD? Any ideias would be much appreciated. Cheers
  5. Hi, Using configuration manager 2012 with MDT 2012. We built a task sequence to install Windows 7 SP1 in our company's machines. First goal is to have this task sequence beeing used by our support team in a Stand-Alone Media, and manage to have time to think in a solution to deploy it in pxe boot environment. All working good if we choose to install packages. The media gets created and the task sequence is sucessfully deployed. But when it comes to choose applications, we can't even create the media. All applications are working good alone, and have the option to be allowed to be installed by a task sequence checked. The CreateTsMedia.log gives an error: CContentDefinition::GetFileProperties failed; 0x80070003 Failed to stage App 7-Zip 9.20 (0x80070003) Failed to create media (0x80070003) CreateTsMedia failed with error 0x80070003, details='7-Zip 9.20' And the error is the same for each and every application i choose to install in the task sequence. Been looking everywhere for some clues, but i just can't get these to work. Any ideas woul be much appreciated. Greetings
  6. Hi, was given the task to implement an OS base image able to be deployed to all our domain computers, and i'm focused on working with MDT 2012. The Goal is the migration from machines still with XP to Windows 7 Entreprise. With newer machines i don't face any problem, but when it comes to older machines that don't have the WindowsPE 4 requirements like the processor, i can't find any solution. Already read of emulating WindowsPE 3 but i don't understand how to do that. Is there any known workaround to make MDT 2012 able of working flawlessly with older machines? Any explanation would be much apreciated. Cheers
  7. Cheers, Facing a problem in our network, with 2 of the 3 windows 2008 DHCP servers. - The one that is inserted on a Domain Controller is working Flawlessly, givind ip and updating new records to the DNS - The other 2, randomly update Dns for some leases but after DHCP Database Cleanup (which is defined to ocurre every hour), they start to log Dns Update Failed messages, even to the ones they have successfuly updated in the last our. What we've done so far: 1- Checked Dns reverse lookup zones and they exist ( some didn't existed and were created) - Result= The same problems 2- Configured Dhcp credentials with admin rights to write in Dns - Result= The same problems 3- Added DHCP's to the DnsUpdateProxy Group - Result= Same Problems 4- Deleted leases both in Dns, forward and lookup zones, and on the DHCP to force new assignment and renew - Result= Same Problems Every sigle DHCP is defined to automatically update Dns and Ptr records. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
  8. We have 2 Dp's, one in a physical box with software update point role installed, and another one in a virtual box with much more availability. We were thinking about moving this SUP role from the physical DP, to the virtual one. Is it possible? What are the major risks? Been looking for documentation, but can´t find anything that answers my questions. Cheers,
  9. Will try. But there's no other way, not playing with poweshell, to achieve this task?
  10. Hi all, I have 2 distribution points, and one package being distributed to all clients, by a single one. For organization purposes, i need to move the package already existing in the original DP to the other. What's the best way to achieve this? Add the second DP, update distribution points, and after content is available, remove the original one? Or simply delete the original package, and create a new one assigning to the Dp i want? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Cheers,
  11. Thanks for your reply, but how to do it? I can only see my boundary groups with my domain subnets and no option to remove the DP...
  12. Good Afternoon, After seeing our SCCM 2012 Content Library drive running out of space, we need to move this folder to a bigger drive. After searching ways to perform this task, we found the ContentLibraryTransfer tool which is exactly what we need to perform it. Despite having the tool, we stopped on these sugestions : 1. ContentLibraryTransfer.exe must run locally on the distribution point with administrator privileges. Can’t be run from a remote machine. However, we could be able to use psexec and run this tool remotely? Three Points to be noted before running Content Library Transfer Tool 2. For successful transfer of content library, make sure that the DP is NOT actively used by any of the clients. Otherwise the destination drive may have incomplete data. 3. During the process of transfer no packages are being distributed to that DP. Otherwise the destination drive may have incomplete data and data transfer might fail altogether leading to an unusable content library - See more at: http://anoopcnair.com/2013/01/04/configmgr-sccm-2012-how-to-move-content-library-folders-from-one-drive-to-another/#sthash.Rp9Mncwz.dpuf My question is... How can we stop our distribution point from being available, and perform this and other maintenance tasks? Any help would be much appreciated. Greetings
  13. Yes they are site assigned and online on the network, but suddenly they went from Client YES to Client NO... They were not deleted.
  14. Indeed... Clients shown as "NO", but when connecting to those machines they all have the client installed
  15. Double checked that, and Clear Install Flag is set to NO
