  1. Hi, I've followed this guide to create a Windows 2008 R2 automatic deployment rule. The thing that is throwing me off is the automatic reboot. I have created a device collection and in there created a daily maintenance windows between 1am and 3am. At the moment I have in the ADR: User notifications: Hide in Software Center and all notifications Deadline behaviour: Both unticked Device restart behaviour: Both unticked Write filter handeling for Windows Embedded devices: Unticked Am i thinking that once the ADR runs on patch Tuesday that the maintenance window will then deploy the patches? Or have I missed something? Thanks!
  2. Hi, Everything was working fine then we noticed that the system site was 'warning'. The reports now give random information (i.e. there are 930 computers in a collection, 840 have a client yet when running report 01a it shows 630 computers). Getting these messages: SMS Software Inventory Processor requested a resynchronization for machine "DP100035" because an attempt was made to update inventory information in the SMS site database that does not already exist. and SMS Software Inventory Processor failed to process software inventory file "D:\SCCM\inboxes\auth\sinv.box\OF3MU8UI.SID," and has moved it to "D:\SCCM\inboxes\sinv.box\BADSinv\1m0nixf1.SID." Possible cause: The file attempted to update inventory information in the SMS site database that does not already exist, or the file contains invalid syntax. Solution: The client inventory needs to be resynchronized, which will be done automatically. Look for the subsequent message 3703, which indicates the resynchronization has begun. and SMS Inventory Data Loader has detected a resynchronization request for agent SMS Inventory Agent. When an agent is specified, the resynchronization is planned only for items reported by that agent. A resynchronization indicates that the current MIF file represents all inventory for the current machine. If any inventory is present in the database that does not occur in the MIF file, SMS Inventory Data Loader deletes it (unless, as with an agent resynchronization, it was reported by a different agent). If many resynchronizations occur, it indicates that inventory was lost at some point. They are almost constantly doing this - the resynchronisation doesn't seem to have fixed it. Does anyone know how to get around this? Many thanks, M.
  3. Hi, Basically I need to view under queries a reg key setting (if possible) and the service pack of the machine. Any ideas what to use? Many thanks, M.
  4. Thanks! Interestingly you can't set BITSPriority through that. Is there anyway to change that? I notice when I do a push it does do some command line for CCMSetup but I can't see anywhere to change that. Many thanks, M.
  5. Hi, Currently under Client Installation Properties in SSCM we just have the SMSSITECODE=BAH I wanted to also put in the BITSPriority:High in the hope that it speeded up client deployment (currently taking 2 hours to deploy the client!) Everytime I add that line with or without a forward slash (/) it errors on the client saying invalid argument. Does anyone have a list of commands I can put in this box? Many thanks, M.
  6. The problem is that everytime I install the full version whether I specify use an existing site or create a new one it breaks the reporting on SCCM. Any ideas how to get around that? M.
  7. Hi, We have SCCM setup and I have installed the WSUS Admin Console on the server (if I install the full blown WSUS it breaks the SCCM website (no reporting) even when I say create a new website). We already have WSUS out there and I wanted to sync with that server - I have tried following the guides on here but the sync always fails with: The operating system reported error 2147500037: Unspecified error Does anyone have any ideas where I've gone wrong and how to fix it? Thanks, M.
  8. Nice idea - I'll try that today and report back!
  9. Also - rather than making a new post - I wondered if anyone could help on the following. When I try to pust the client (I don't want to auto-push it yet as it's still in test) to machines I've discovered it doesn't work. According to the CCM.log file on the server it's because it's trying to use the machine account. I don't want it to use the machine account, as it doesn't have permissions on the clients. Is there anyway to change this. I'd like it so I can manually push it out but not automatically. Many thanks for your help thus far mate! M.
  10. For some reason the picture upload's not working at work (blooming proxy!) What I ticked is: Apply to branch distribution points only Throttling window start time 08:00(am) End Time 10:00(am) - so two hours Maximum transfer rate during throttling window (Kbps 9999) UNTICKED: Allow BITS downloads outside of throttling window I've probably gone wrong somewhere - looking at that picture I think I should have it going to branch distribution points and all clients? M.
  11. Thanks! I created the directories and all is well. One last question is that when I'm deploying the client I get this: <![LOG[Download Update: Connecting to the server.]LOG]!><time="12:10:39.387+-60" date="05-11-2010" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="248" file="ccmsetup.cpp:6791"> <![LOG[Download Update: 655838 out of 17847296 bytes transferred.]LOG]!><time="12:15:39.374+-60" date="05-11-2010" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="248" file="ccmsetup.cpp:6783"> <![LOG[Download Update: 1304470 out of 17847296 bytes transferred.]LOG]!><time="12:20:39.354+-60" date="05-11-2010" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="248" file="ccmsetup.cpp:6783"> <![LOG[Download Update: 1959742 out of 17847296 bytes transferred.]LOG]!><time="12:25:39.418+-60" date="05-11-2010" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="248" file="ccmsetup.cpp:6783"> <![LOG[Download Update: 2521282 out of 17847296 bytes transferred.]LOG]!><time="12:30:39.529+-60" date="05-11-2010" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="248" file="ccmsetup.cpp:6783"> <![LOG[Download Update: 3150325 out of 17847296 bytes transferred.]LOG]!><time="12:35:39.532+-60" date="05-11-2010" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="248" file="ccmsetup.cpp:6783"> <![LOG[Download Update: 3799128 out of 17847296 bytes transferred.]LOG]!><time="12:40:39.534+-60" date="05-11-2010" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="248" file="ccmsetup.cpp:6783"> <![LOG[Download Update: 4454643 out of 17847296 bytes transferred.]LOG]!><time="12:45:39.552+-60" date="05-11-2010" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="248" file="ccmsetup.cpp:6783"> <![LOG[Download Update: 5103452 out of 17847296 bytes transferred.]LOG]!><time="12:50:39.554+-60" date="05-11-2010" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="248" file="ccmsetup.cpp:6783"> <![LOG[Download Update: 5758805 out of 17847296 bytes transferred.]LOG]!><time="12:55:39.556+-60" date="05-11-2010" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="248" file="ccmsetup.cpp:6783"> <![LOG[Download Update: 6399303 out of 17847296 bytes transferred.]LOG]!><time="13:00:39.558+-60" date="05-11-2010" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="248" file="ccmsetup.cpp:6783"> <![LOG[Download Update: 7021889 out of 17847296 bytes transferred.]LOG]!><time="13:05:39.560+-60" date="05-11-2010" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="248" file="ccmsetup.cpp:6783"> <![LOG[Download Update: 7677344 out of 17847296 bytes transferred.]LOG]!><time="13:10:39.578+-60" date="05-11-2010" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="248" file="ccmsetup.cpp:6783"> <![LOG[Download Update: 8325910 out of 17847296 bytes transferred.]LOG]!><time="13:15:39.580+-60" date="05-11-2010" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="248" file="ccmsetup.cpp:6783"> Now as you can see that client update which is about halfway through is about an hour into its runtime. I'd like to, obviously, deploy this faster. Does anyone have any ideas how I can speed it up? Many thanks, M.
  12. Thanks - where do I create the folder? M.
  13. Hi, Currently I have just deployed SCCM 2007. I have successfully had one client on there which seems fine. I have now, manually, pushed out the client to a second PC using the commandline: \\server\site\Client\ccmsetup.exe /dp:SERVERNAME SMSSITECODE:SITE The client is now on the console but not registered. I've had a look at the log file and I'm getting: "Couldn't get directory list for directory 'http://server/CCM_Client/ClientPatch'" Which is correct - it doesn't exist. I also get: Couldn't get directory list for directory 'http://server/CCM_Client/i386/00000409'. This directory may not exist. - This is also correct - it doesn't exist. The client is available by the IIS website - it's in the http://server/CCM_Client/i386/ directory - but the 00000409 directory does not exist. At the moment it is downloading the client again (and taking an age I might add - literally a hour for half of the file so far). I will report back what happens next- but it anyone has any idea why this is happening or how to fix it I would be most grateful. M. P.S. The client on the machine did install fine - took two hours though!
