  1. I agree. I am trying to determine what other people use so that I can figure out what I would like to do. What do you use?
  2. What do you use in your software deployment for both unattended and silent installations? Windows Installer Service? AutoIt? -Josh
  3. My fear/thought is that I'll have to use a program like AutoIt to do this. What do you all do in your deployment environments? Thanks, -Josh
  4. Is it possible to automate the entire installation of software applications using SCCM. Essentially, I want all questions that are asked during software installations to be automated. Like license keys, installation location, features, etc. Can SCCM do this? If so, how? I've looked through all the guides, but I did not see anything...i could be missing it. Thanks, -Josh
  5. Wow, I deserve to be on a windows-noob forum...that was my problem. The user I entered there was typed in wrong. The guide even specifically highlights to make sure of this. Thanks guys! -Josh
  6. Where in SCCM do I tell it to use this account? In one of the user guides it tells me to create two users SMSUser and SMSAdmin, but I don't know where/if it tells me where to use them in SCCM.
  7. During the debugging mode on the client I try to access the location described above "\\DEPLOY.BENEDEPLOY.LOCAL\SMSPKGC$\" and I can't see it as a Network Share. What permissions should be setup for this folder? Any setting in SCCM need to be changed as well?
  8. Eswar, Yes, all the task sequences are setup for each DP. I'm not sure what you mean by NAAccount. Can you elaborate? -Josh
  9. The package for BEN00003 is my Configuration Manager Client Installation, fyi.

  11. Any thoughts on what could be my problem? I have my Boot Image setup, OS Image, OS Package, Task Sequence, and Advertisement. It just keeps failing at "Preparing Network Connections" once the client boots into WinPE. Any logs I should check? -Josh
  12. Interesting, it appears as if I have SCCM 2007 SP2 installed but not R2. Does that matter? Thanks, -Josh
  13. Vladimir, Thanks for your reply. Here are my answers to your questions. 1) Yes, the task sequence is available to boot media and PXE 2) I am using a network/PXE installation and so I just create a Task Sequence and do not go through the Task Sequence Media wizard. (I followed this post's instructions. http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1170-deploy-windows-7/) The Task Sequence properties don't give me the option to respond to unknown computers. But, from the log I provided it appears as if it does recognize the device, otherwise it would not get as far as it had, right? Thanks for your help, -Josh
  14. Good Morning, I am having some issues deploying Windows 7 X86 in my VM lab. I followed the guides step by step and have gone through every troubleshooting guide I could find. What is happening is that when my client PXE boots it gets all the way into WinPE and quits just after "Preparing Network Connections". However, I can verify that the NIC drivers are NOT the problem by opening the command prompt and running ipconfig. It is receiving an IP address no problem. I also checked the SMSPXE.LOG file and it does not appear to have any problems. I have updated all my distribution points, and deleted/recreated my task sequence and re-advertised it. Unless I'm setting up my Task Sequence wrong, I don't know what the issue is. The ONLY thing that I've done differently than the guides is to create a task sequence that does NOT build and capture but instead installs the OS Package directly. See attachment for Screenshots. Below is what prints out in my SMPXE.LOG file. I could not find my SMSTS.LOG file or my ZTIValidate.log file. I'm not sure if they are created yet since it's not getting very far. Thanks in advance for any help. I am stuck in the water over here. -Josh Executing GetBootAction(46, DEPLOY) smspxe 11/29/2010 12:01:08 PM 2888 (0x0B48) vLastPXEAdvertisementID is NULL smspxe 11/29/2010 12:01:08 PM 2888 (0x0B48) vLastPXEAdvertisementTime: 29/11/2010 19:00:58 smspxe 11/29/2010 12:01:08 PM 2888 (0x0B48) GetBootAction: MAC:00:03:FF:6F:71:3B SMBIOS:AD3908B2-844F-4D76-A170-960994686484 SMSID:GUID:A10EE8FA-4997-40F9-9131-40FE43F66C01 LastAdv: smspxe 11/29/2010 12:01:08 PM 2888 (0x0B48) Advertisement results: OfferId:BEN20007 OfferTime:29/11/2010 10:54:00 PackageID:BEN0000A BootImageID:BEN00004 PackageVer: PackagePath:\\DEPLOY\SMSPXEIMAGES$\SMSPKG\BEN00004\ Mandatory:1 smspxe 11/29/2010 12:01:08 PM 2888 (0x0B48) ProcessDatabaseReply: Device has not executed this advertisement: LastAdvDB: New:BEN20007 smspxe 11/29/2010 12:01:08 PM 2888 (0x0B48) Failed to read PXE settings.
