The usual case of a client not installing on a system is due to Firewall restrictions. Check that the proper ports are open or, for tests sake, disable the firewall. The client should be viewable in the Control Panel of your Vista system.

Never mind, finally managed to fix it.

Wow 50+ Views and not one reply. Thats a shame. Anyway a quick update: I did a complete and utter fresh install today. Followed instructions to the letter, dotted my I's and crossed my T's from IIS all the way to all the other predicaments. The SCCM07 installation was a complete success without 1 error message, very very clean. Installed the roles. Went to update repository, started my synch and lo and behold, 5 mins later it startet raining the same error messages. Someone PLEASE HELP.

Greetings fellow noobs and admin gods alike. For the past few days I have really been fighting with a number of issues concerning the SUP/WSUS synchronization. Firstly, having installed WSUS (from Windows 2008 R2) if I ran a Synch there, it ran without an issue. After following the instructions to install SCCM 07 R2 and having added the hotfix and the R3 Update, I wanted to get SUP up and running. However, when I go to Update Repository and click on Synch, I get the message that I should check the Synch log to check progress. Having done so, usually 5 Minutes after starting the Synch Process I get the following error: SMS_WSUS_SYNCH_MANAGER Component: ID: 6703 Fehler bei der SMS-WSUS-Synchronisierung. Meldung: WSUS server not configured. Quelle: CWSyncMgr::DoSync. Das Betriebssystem meldet Fehler 2147500037: Unbekannter Fehler At the same time I am also getting another error: SMS_WSUS_CONFIG_MAN Component: ID: 6600 SMS-WSUS-Configuration Manager konnte die Upstreamserver-Einstellungen des WSUS-Servers "Servername" nicht konfigurieren. Firstly I apologize for these error messages being in German, yet the WSUS ID's correspond to their English counterparts. Now it seems to be a common issue, and I have littlerally always found the same explanation but it does not fit my enviroment. I am running in Mixed Mode, not native mode. I dont use SSL. I have set WSUS for its own site using ports 8530 SSL: 8531. The Update Management Point is configured to those ports. The firewall is currently deactivated. The WSUS itself would still synch (which I am not doing at the moment, since I want SCCM 07 to do the synching). Things I have done: Remove WSUS, SUP restarted. Installed WSUS again, SUP again, same issue. Changed ports from standard to new site, restarted everything (after new WSUS installation) same issue. The WSUS is supposed to take the updates from Windows Update site (as per instructions provided on this site), yet I cannot for the life of me get this thing running and its really beginning to frustrate. Additional Info: This is on a Virtual Enviroment (Win 2008 R2 Server - Fully updated). There are 2 NICS (1 going inside the test enviroment and 1 for internet connection). The WSUS on its own synchs. Inside ConfigManager I got nothing.
