TS from Windows XP SP3 to Windows 7 Duplicated Icon in Start Menu

Question

Hi all,

i have the following issue:

i created a TS for the migration from Windows XP SP3 to Windows 7. The TS include the backup and restore and i used a Migration Point to complete this action (i want used the Hardlink process).

For the Backup and restore i used the USMT 4.0.

My TS works fine and i havent error but at last when the deploy finished ( without error) i see some duplicated icon inside start menu : Accessories and Games are duplicated and i can see also my old Office 2003 icons inside the office folder (in my custom Windows 7 WIM i have just installed the Office 2010!)

My lab infrastructure is the following:

1x Domain Controller Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition SP2

1x SCCM 2007 SP2 R2 Windows Server 2008 R2

1x Windows XP Client SP3

Any Ideas to remove the duplicated icon ?

Thanks

i beleive this could be done in USMT by customizing the collected data.... or you could just script the deletion of the startmenu items if they are all static/the same...

checkout halfway down the post for an example..
