Active Resource properties aren't being populated with AD System Group Names

Question

Hi all, hope someone can help.

We've configured collections in SCCM with queries that automatically populate them with machine resources based on System Group memberships (i.e. AD groups containing computer accounts). These queries are working, and we see machines join the collections based on their AD group memberships (so I know that discovery is working).

Our problem is that when we re-image a machine (we are looking to rebuild our entire 5000+ strong XP estate with Win 7 imminently) that already has an SCCM agent installed, the obsolete and inactive record lists the AD System Groups within the properties but the new, valid, active resource does not. As a result, once a machine is rebuilt, it is effectively no longer a member of the collection, despite the machine's account still being a member of the AD group. Deleting the obsolete resource does not help, nor does re-running an AD system or system group discovery.

Can anyone please advise?

Thanks in advance.

Ben
