Distribution Points in SCCM 2012

Question

Hi, a few DP related queries.

I have just added a new DP to our SCCM 2012 infastructure. We now have a single primary (sccm-pri-1) and 2x DPs (sccm-dp-1 & sccm-dp-2). All looks OK on the console and content has transferred to the new DP. But can you tell me what log file to check to see what clients are picking up applications from the new DP. I cannot see distmgr.log on the new DP (only on the primary).

Also, should each DP also be a Management Point?

Finally, we have deployed nearly 7000 clients on a single site. Is there any rule of thumb for how many DPs per clients?

thanks for looking, the guides on here are great,

Jim

Hi,

There is no log file on the DP you can however look in the IIS logs to Watch for incoming connecting. You can check on the client in Locationservices.log file wchich MP/DP the clients get assigned.

According to TechNet approximatley 4'000 clients per DP, of course it depends on HW and network speed as well.

Jörgen
