  1. thanks for the link but for whatever reason, the logs they said should be in the program files folder, aren't there. From your experience, what could be causing this to happen?
  2. I created roughly 8 or 9 collections of PCs based on department and started advertisements for all of them (within roughly 1hr of each other) but when i go to the FEP dashboard, all of the reports show "error" please see the attached screenshot. What logs can I read to discover more??
  3. Hey folks, After some tinkering and serious time with playing around in SCCM '07, I've finally been able to deploy some clients. I've narrowed it down to the firewall as far as why I can't push clients down to my PCs. Now, I'm looking through my logs and it's lit up like a Christmas tree with errors here and there. To preface this entire thread, the AD schema is NOT extended and the SCCM server is also acting as the SLP. ------------------------------------------ Severity Type Site code Date / Time System Component Message ID Description Error Milestone GLF 8/23/2011 10:25:01 AM GOLFSCCM01 SMS_AD_SYSTEM_DISCOVERY_AGENT 5204 SMS Active Directory System Discovery Agent failed to bind to container . Error: The parameter is incorrect. . Possible cause: The AD container specified earlier might be invalid now. The Domain Controller is inaccessible. Solution: Please verify that the AD container paths specified are valid. Confirm accessibility of the site server to the Domain Controller to be queried. However, just above this error is the following: ------------------------------------------ Severity Type Site code Date / Time System Component Message ID Description Information Milestone GLF 8/23/2011 10:25:01 AM GOLFSCCM01 SMS_AD_SYSTEM_DISCOVERY_AGENT 5202 SMS Active Directory System Discovery Agent read the AD Containers and found 2 valid AD Container entries in the site control file. Active Directory System Discovery Agent identified 0 systems in the AD Containers and generated 0 system discovery data records (DDRs) and 0 errors while attempting to create DDRs. I have plenty of other errors. If you look at the screenshot you can see that this error occurs almost every 5 minutes. The service starts, the error occurs, the information milestone event shows, and then the component is stopped. What is going on here and why are these errors being thrown?
  4. Sorry to confuse you. This is my first experience with SCCM / FEP Deployment. We do NOT have our AD schema extended. If I don't need the SysMgmt Container, where do I go from that point as far as deploying the FEP client? Also, I was able to push the Client ConfigMgr once I disabled my firewall but when I go into it, under the Advanced tab, it fails to discover the site code.
  5. Peter, Thanks for the response. However, I'm pretty sure I've done this. I should have prefaced this with the fact that we do NOT have our AD schema extended. We work with a 3rd party host and they take care of MOST of our domain services. We only recently moved into a domain and his recent correspondence indicated that extending the schema was going to be a cumbersome process, bringing down the server for a considerable amount of time. In my thinking, I don't care about that as it's necessary for this software to function. Also, what do you mean the computeraccount? I followed the guide, added the actual computer to the System Management container. Still no dice. Any clues? It doesn't look like the AD schema will be updated so can I still do this deployment using an SLP?
  6. I'm having a problem getting the System Management folder to populate. I followed the 3 step guide in this forum on getting everything setup. At first I wasn't able to deploy the configmgr client and it turned out to be a firewall issue. Now, I'm unable to deploy FEP and I'm almost certain its because of this error being thrown by the Site Management Server. Please see the attached and let me know if you need further information. I've added the two accounts (SMSadmin / SMSread) and the computer account to the security tab of the System Management folder but it doesn't get populated. I'm stumped.
  7. I know this thread is a bit old, but we just got SCCM 07 / FEP 2010 installed in our environment and I am having a heck of a time configuring it. Up until recently, I wasn't able to see any PCs in the configmgr console. Now they show up under "All Systems" and the "All Users" but when I go to push the client to them, nothing happens. The field that shows if they have the client or not says "No" and I can't find out what's wrong here. I'm under the impression I'm missing a lot of the underlying connections that need to be made here. I get stuck halfway through the OP's solution on the first page. I tested the installation of ConfigMgr. client on my PC and it does show up in the control panel. Once in CfgMgr under the Actions tab I only see two actions: Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle User Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle I had manually run the ccmsetup.exe from my command line but was hoping to do this by pushing from the SCCM server. Is this even possible? Our solution is hosted and SCCM & FEP reside on a virtual machine. It is still on the same domain but for some reason none of the collections update with any PCs. Also, when I go to the Advanced tab and attempt to discover the site code, it fails. Over the weekend I was looking at the event viewer/log and it was chock full of errors. I tried weeding through them but this is my first experience with SCCM/FEP in general. I may be way in over my head here but I'd really like to see if I can configure this myself before resorting to requesting help from our vendor as they may charge through the roof, claiming that this implementation was new to them. I'm not sure if it will be much help but I've attached a screenshot of the property sheet for my machine specifically. There are a lot of <null> fields. This can't be normal? Where are the log files I can look at and post if need be? Thanks in advance for any guidance. It's very much appreciated.
