  1. A few additional things I've observed so far (RC 1)... Rows containing a computername not already known to SCCM will fail to import; only rows containing devices already listed in the SCCM console will succeed to import (regardless of whether the SCCM client is known to be installed on that device or not). Whilst rows containing users not already known to SCCM will appear to import successfully, the console will only list previously known users to devices. Importing UDA details will not replace affinities already known to SCCM. E.g. importing UDA data for one user to one device when that user already has affinity with another device will result in that user having two primary devices. It is therefore important that this tool be used with care as there is no similar method (in the console) to undo UDA (en mass) once set. It is valid to have a user or device listed a number of times throughout the import file. This will result in users being assigned to multiple devices or vice-versa. Rows containing data of an affinity that is already known about will fail to import; where a file contains duplicated rows at least all but one of these rows will fail to import.
  2. Find my resolution here, maxx... http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/4733-permission-problem-with-reporting-part-11/
  3. Hi! FYI. I went on to create an SMSReportUsers group in AD, allowing normal test user accounts to access reports through their broswers too. I found I didn't have to define this group in the SCCM console at all, only through the browser as described above. When doing this I noticed that the permissions being set did not propegate to the child folders so I had to do this manually (hit ConfigMgr_001, Properties, Security, Revert To Parent Security, and also repeat this for subfolders under ConfigMgr_001 to allow this groups to see reports). I'm not sure if this is perculiar to my setup, the RC etc. I also noticed that adding this group to the local administrators group got around this issue, but obviously this is not ideal. Maybe this is why this tip is provided in the instructions above.
  4. OK I think I have this one. See the following article. My local policy being enforced on my server OU only had a only a couple of accounts in the ALLOW LOG ON LOCALLY setting. I needed to add the SMSReportsUser account which I created earlier. It then burst into life. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc161372.aspx
  5. I'm on Part 11 (Reporting) and I have a strange one. I'm able to access role administration via IE as described above, but when I add the Report User or Report Administrator role to any accounts (either SMSAdmin or SMSReportsUser), 30 seconds later I refresh the screen and those roles have been removed! Some roles do seem to stick, but not the two Report ones. And when I try and access reports (via IE or the SCCM console) I get an error in a messagebox like the one I've pasted below. Any ideas what I might be missing here? FYI my SMSReportsUser is just a Domain User as I didn't see any step telling me to add it to anything else... 7. Got it. I'll play with this later. Thanks for that, Peter.
  8. ... Maybe there is a method of creating a build DVD containing the WIM etc which an administrator could boot from (as we used to do with BDD)?...
  9. Afternoon guys, Maybe I'm being stupid but... I have still to come across a procedure for building Win7 PCs using SCCM 2012 (groovy task sequences etc) without first defining the machine in the console and using PXE or deploying to an already built machine. We're not planning on making PXE available in every building and I can see there will be times when I'll want to build bare metal in a location where PXE is not available. I come from an SMS 2003 / BDD 2007 setup where we didn't use PXE at all so forgive my not knowing this if it is something obvious...
  10. Solved. As you said, we needed to point the OS Installer to a whole copy of the ISO and not a folder containing INSTALL.WIM. Thanks for that. Have a good one
  11. So I need more than just the WIM file? Hunting down a Windows 7 ISO just now...
  12. Really? OK thanks for the heads-up. I'll check it now...
  13. Hi Folks, Everything was going so well PXE boot looks good, it seems to copy the INSTALL.WIM ok (F8 in DOS and it is present). Fails at the Applying OS stage. X: SMSTS.LOG attached. Looks like it can't find a file? Strangely I can't access an E: in DOS as mentioned throughout the logfile but maybe this is by design. Hmmmmmm. All suggestions welcome. D smsts3.log
