  1. Anyone know the behavior if SCCM will automatically download the new re-released update? Example: I have an ADR created to run the 2nd Wed of the month to create an update group and download all the new monthly updates. Microsoft just botched another Office 2010 update and I believe are re-releasing it. Do I have to run the ADR again manually to import the new update to the group? or is this automatic? I know the botched update will be expired automatically, the concern if I will get the new v2 of the update.
  2. We ran into something similar to this when we updated our boot image. When you plug in the USB thumb drive to boot into SCCM, it will check with the copy on the source and if its different. It will download and cache the boot image and run it locally. The issue is when you have an encrypted drive. When you navigate to an encrypted drive, there wont be any space available until you diskpart it. So when it tries to copy the boot image, it will not have enough space and fail. Not sure if you have the same issue since you PXE boot.
  3. Just wanted to get some insight to see if anyone have upgrade from SCCM 2012 RTM to R2? I understand that I have to first upgrade to SP1. Is there a wait time after upgrading to SP1 for the database or can you just jump to R2 right after SP1. After running thru the steps below, can I just upgrade the client from 2012 RTM to the 2012 R2 client? Does the 2012 RTM client still communicate with the upgraded SCCM 2012 R2 server? you can still push out deployment with no issues? 2012 RTM to SP1 Uninstall Windows Automated Installation Kit Install ADK 8.0 Install WSUS hotfix support Windows 8 Add A/V exclusion for OSD files Install WMF 3.0 Run testdbupgrade on copy database Run Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 SETUP View logs for any errors 2012 SP1 to R2 Uninstall ADK 8.0 Install ADK 8.1 Run Configration Manager 2012 R2 SETUP View logs for any errors
  4. Sorry for the double post, might have posted this in the SCCM 2007 forum instead. The workstation are being managed via SCCM 2012. Does anyone know what the pros/cons of deploying using Software Updates compared to using the Application deployment method? I already deployed all the IE 10 pre-reqs via Software Updates. I am leaning towards Application deployment since I can create a customized msi file using IEAK and I believe the installation will check and automatically install the pre-reqs. Just wanted to get advice from people that already done this. Thanks in advance.

  6. I noticed an odd bug in my SCCM 2012 environment. I had to delete the client from the SCCM console and when I ran the discovery data on the client end. The client is showing a PKI certificate now. Normally it would be a self-signed certificate. I even tried to uninstall and reinstall the client with the smssitecode=auto switch, same result. Is there anyway to force the SCCM client to use the self-signed cert? I don't have PKI set up in my environment and when the client is showing PKI, it does not communicate with my Primary/MP server.
