  1. When updates are deployed, does the deadline apply from the time the update is deployed? So, if the next day more updates are deployed, would there effectively be two deadlines applied to the clients? How can I determine the deadline of an update deployment? When testing, updates are installing the second they hit the set maintenance window, the computer sits there for hours after the updates install and nothing appears - no reboot prompts. It was also difficult to test because clients were rebooting at 3am due to the group policy setting C'onfigure Automatic Updates' being set to this which I have now set to disabled. The problem is that clients are receiving the reboot prompt at random times. I do suspect a possible second collection with a different maintenance window causing this, though. I'll just have to wait and see what happens after removing them.
  2. Thanks for your reply. How do I not enforce a deadline? By selecting 'As soon as possible' rather than specifying 7 days, wouldn't this cause reboots to occur sooner than 7 days? The ADR and maintenance window are both based on Client local time, not UTC. In the ADR, the User Experience is set to 'Hide in Software Center and all notifications'. Say a device is a member of a second collection, but nothing is actually deployed to this collection, do the settings from this second collection apply for the installation of updates? I had a couple of other collections but the devices in question were not part of them.
  3. Hey guys, Firstly, thanks for these guides, they're very informative and helpful. I've installed SCCM 2012 according to these instructions with SUP and Endpoint protection. SCEP and updates are working great, and Windows Updates are installing. However, devices are counting down and forcing users to reboot outside of a maintenance Window, showing this window: I have the following settings, but can't figure out why this is coming up: Device collectionTargeting only Windows 8.1 devices. Maintenance window - every day from 3:00pm to 8:30am. Automatic Deployment RuleEvaluation schedule - runs every day at 3:00am. Deployment Schedule - Software Available time set to 2 hours, deadline is set to 7 days. User Experience - Hide all notifications, deadline behaviour options are both unticked, device restart behaviour both unticked (suppressed). Download settings - Deployment options set to 'Do not install software updates'. Deployed to the above collection. Client settingsSoftware Updates enabled, scheduled scan every 1 days at 12am. scheduled deployment re-evaluation every 7 days at 12am. Computer Restart is not enabled and set. Deployed to the above collection. Group Policy'Specify intranet Microsoft update service location' is pointing to our SCCM server. (http://sccm.xxxx.local:8530) 'Configure Automatic Updates' set to Disabled. - This is different to what's advised in the guide. 'No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations' Enabled. I think the above settings are the main ones, unless I'm missing something? Can you not have a deadline? Does setting the Installation deadline to 0 days disable this? If I don't specify Computer Reset settings in my custom Client Device Settings (unticked), do the default ones apply without deploying the Default Client Settings? Ideally in our situation we want Windows Updates to install silently and not prompt to reboot, regardless of the deadline. I appreciate any help with this. It's driving me nuts!
