  2. Morning., My environment consist of a Primary Site, two secondary and 20 DP's to manage remote locations. We currently build machines at each location using PXE and boot media. We are using MDT Integration with CB 1610. The automation for location and builds is configured using a customsettings.ini which works with no issues. My question is the following. been that we are using the customsettings.ini, what is the best approach to configured State Migration Point to upload user data to the local DP. I have one or two configured and also have the Online USMT step enabled in the Task Sequence, yet it never uploads the user data to the local DP but instead it captures in local disk. I'm looking for the best way to be able to start data migration for user to the local DP. Should I be setting the State Migration Point on the customsettings.ini for each location, I already have a section to determine location base on Gateway. Any suggestion will be much appreciated. thanks in advanced.
  3. Once my OSD is completed and the Tech logs in as the user we need to run a post installation which also includes users profile registry keys modification and additions. The issue I'm running into is that the tech's have access to a collection that will allow them to add machines to the collection which deploys the post install and the machine doesn't show up immediately after the OSD process is completed. My environment uses PKI for client communication but the cert comes down the minute the machine joins to the domain. I have set the limiting collection to update every 5 minutes. Is there a collection during the WinPE OSD process that I could use to speed things up, maybe another set of agent settings that will force check in asap.
  4. My question is related on speeding up the SCCM Client to check in after OSD is completed to follow the post application install. My environment is customized to use PKI and Certs. When the client joins domain during OSD it gets the certificate for client communication with no issues. Once the OSD application stack is completed we need to follow the build with a post Install process. The issue we are running into is that we have to wait until the SCCM Client registers completely to console. Is there a way to speed the SCCM Client registration after the OSD process. thanks
  5. I figure it out. I'm using my customsettings.ini file which is how I determined Region and Locations based on gateway and copy the ztigather.wsf, ZTIDataAccess.vbs, ZTIGather.xml, ZTIUtility.vbs and customsettings.ini. 1. Created a package with these files 2. replicated to DP's 3. Created Task Sequence with a run command line and selecting the new package 4. added command line "cscript ztigather.wsf" 5. added MySite variable to the groups created in the TaskSequence When I deploy the Task Sequence it run the ztigather.wsf setting all my variables based on the customsettings.ini file, this then determines the region and site based on gateway and it runs the appropriate section based on the variables. hope this helps someone out there.
  6. How can I dynamically figure out the location, for example.. let's say i wanted to add a condition to deploy a Group based on gateway or prefix of computer name. What would be the best variable to use that will give me this type of automation?
  7. update.. you can not use Dynamics apps is not supported during the TS media process. If you want to use the same Task Sequence in the bootable Media you have to use standard applications and packages.
  8. Morning everyone, I'm looking for a better idea in how to deploy post task after the OSD task sequence is completed. We have several locations that require post scripts and additional software and will like to create a single task sequence with some sort of automation to deploy parts of the task sequence based on gateway or hostname prefix. I currently do my OSD automation by customizing the CustomSettings.ini file which works great, but post OSD I haven't been able to find a intuitive way to get this done. I did use the ZTI gather and Customsettings.ini file during this post task but it add more time to the post task sequence since it has to copy the MDT files to the machine first. any ideas, suggestions or link to how it's been done before will be much appreciated.
  9. Good Afternoon everyone, I'm using a MDT Task Sequence in SCCM to build Windows 7, inside the task sequence there are several Drive Applications packages that are deployed using the Dynamic application option of Install Application in TS. The variables are set on the "All Unknown Computers" collection and this works perfectly when booting into PXE. I wanted to transfer this process to a bootable media and was able to create the ISO. The build seems to deploy the image and inject the drivers packages with no issues, it went as far as joining machine to domain. when it got to the part where it installs the Dynamics applications it failed with error "80004005" When looking at the smsts.log it tells me that "No Env variable with specified basename 'Lenovo' and suffix '001' is found. No applications installed. My questions, Dynamics applications does not work using bootable media? any guidance or help will be grateful. thanks
  10. Thanks, was able to figure this out as well by following the DP SCCMContenLib\PkgLib and map the packages.
  11. figure this out. turns out that there is a setting in the web.config file that needs to be changed manually. Checked the Web.config file under location C:\Program Files\Update Services\WebServices\ClientWebService\ Checked <services> section and found that it was set to use "ClientWebServiceBinding" and not "SSL" <services> <service name="Microsoft.UpdateServices.Internal.Client" behaviorConfiguration="ClientWebServiceBehaviour"> <endpoint address="" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="ClientWebServiceBinding" contract="Microsoft.UpdateServices.Internal.IClientWebService" /> <endpoint address="secured" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="ClientWebServiceBinding" contract="Microsoft.UpdateServices.Internal.IClientWebService" /> </service> </services> Changed the value of "bindingConfiguration" to "SSL" in the above sections. <services> <service name="Microsoft.UpdateServices.Internal.Client" behaviorConfiguration="ClientWebServiceBehaviour"> <endpoint address="" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="SSL" contract="Microsoft.UpdateServices.Internal.IClientWebService" /> o <endpoint address="secured" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="SSL" contract="Microsoft.UpdateServices.Internal.IClientWebService" /> </service> </services> Performed IISRESEThope this helps someone who runs into the same issue.
  12. Good Morning gents, I recently switch my SCCM CB 1610 from http tp https, everything it's working fine until I tested the Software Update. I downloaded and deploy a patch and on the client i get the following errors: Its a WSUS Update Source type ({B3CE6C4E-8947-43F7-9E10-275AFDD23DB8}), adding it. WUAHandler 3/7/2017 11:03:04 AM 17740 (0x454C) everything else it's working fine, and I validated the WCM.log and WSUSCtrl.log and everything looks good with no errors. The managed machine even finds the WSUS server on https://servername.domain.local:8531and IIS binding has been configured with certs. any ideas? thanks
  13. Thanks for your response, my WIM is fully updated and the only patch missing is the January 2017 Security Quality roll-up, my intentions is to provide a process where we plug-in the Monthly Security roll-up every month and we will be fully updated without having to rebuild and update the WIM so often. The last time we use the offline patching our image was growing very large and don't want to slow down the imaging process by having the image grow. Is Offline Servicing the way to go? There's only one update targeting the Unknown computer collections and not many. thanks again
  14. Good Morning everyone, I'm looking for the simplest way to follow a package or application package once it's replicated to a DP. I'm looking to verify that that link works for any of my available packages. I know the SCCM 2012 resource kit has a tools to review all the packages on the DP but I'm looking for a more direct way in IIS. I was able to figure out that packages have a virtual folder in DP iis which I could pull up as http://dpname/SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/PackageIDbut cant seem to find the same for application packages. thanks in advanced.
  15. Good Morning, Currently running CB 1610 and MDT 2013 latest version, during the OSD TS I had added a step to install Windows 7 Security Monthly Quality Roll-up. A Software update group was created, downloaded and is targeting the Unknown computer collections to make it available during OSD. I find errors on the smsts.log Failed to run the action": Install Software update: Unknown error (Error:80244010: Source Unknown) Will like to see this method to work or use another method to make sure that the latest updates every month is included during OSD and the image to be updated at the end. what's missing? or can anyone suggest a better more intuitive method to make sure these updates are installed. thanks in advanced.
