Pulling my hair out folks. I have created Boot images and injected drivers for the Intel 82567LM-3 used in the Dell Latitude E6410. I can PXE boot just fine and successfully run a task to put Windows 7 on the laptop. I created a Capture Image CD to capture the image but it fails. Looking through the smsts.log the first error I see is that a network card could not be found, other errors tell it could not connect to the share where I'm placing my captured image (because no network card). When I created the Image Capture Media, I specified the same exact boot image I use in my Task Sequence to put Windows 7 on the laptop (which works fine). Anyone else have this problem. I am really beginning to dislike the Dell Latitude E6410.

Having a major issue here. I can't PXE boot my Dell Latitude E6410's to perform OSD. The following is my system: Server 2008 SP2 SCCM 2007 SP2 R2 WAIK for Windows 7 I can PXE boot Dell GX 780 computers. I added the Windows 7 PE drivers to my boot images. I have downloaded them from Intel and Dell. I used the F8 in my boot images. IPCONFIG shows no IP address. I believe the drivers are wrong for the NIC. When I boot into Windows, the NIC shows up as as Intel 82577LM, yet all the PE Images indicate an Intel 82567LM. First of all I would like to say this forum and the tech advice is the best I have ever seen. Now on to my issue. I installed SCCM 2007 R2 in order to use Multicasting. My SCCM 2007 is at SP2. It installed just fine and the Multicasting role showed up. I configured as to what was recommend on TechNet. I then noticed some Status messages going to critical. I looked at the sitecomp.log and found an error message saying that MCS was not supported in my configuration, which is Win 2003 R2 Standard with SP2. The matrix on TechNet says my server is compatible. Does any know for sure if MCS for SCCM2007 is compatible? Second question. I uninstalled SCCM2007 R2, restarted the server, then re-installed R2. It installed with no errors, but the MultiCasting Role does not show up now. Any help will be much appreciated.

I am currently deploying a Windows 7 Image using a Task Sequence. It works GREAT. What I would like to do is to deploy the image to spare computers and not name them. That way I can just pull the computer from my stock and name it at my users location when I deploy the computer at his/her desk. I would like to also do it with my Windows XP deployments. Is there something in the Unattend.xml and Sysprep.inf file I can change to make this happen? I am currently not specifying any ComputerName in Unattend.xml or Sysprep.inf. It some how magically gets it from the task.

Still in the testing phase but it works. Had some issues, like we had to delete all user profiles except for the Administrator so all users would get get the same desktop ICONS and metrics. Also I had to change some registry entries to customize folder views which didn't seem to carry through from the Admin account to all users. We also put the Office ICONS into the Program tray, I had to do a local logon script to pin them, the pinning did not carry through from the Admin profile. I'm impressed by the speed and size of the image captures. It's almost a 3 to 1 reduction in size.

I found the problem. There were 2 problems. 1) I forgot to Get the Store Location in the Task 2) I had to uninstall KB974571 from the clients. --Bob

I followed the forums 'How to use USMT in SCCM 2007'. I can't seem to make it work properly. I don't want to perform a side-by-side migration. When I examine the smsts.log, the first errors I see are as follows: 'OSDStateStorePath' TS environment variable is empty. Failed to construct USMT commandline (0x80004005) I have setup a share om the server and pointed the State Migration Role to that share. I have tried using D:\CS folder for the point where SMP should store the migration package. The permissions and security are set properly on the folder. I have tried both USMT 3.01 and USMT 4.0, I will be migrating from Win XP to Win 7, so I'm sure I will need 4.0. My SCCM 2007 has been updated with SCCM SP1 and 2 and R2. The client receives the advertisement and starts the task. It downloads some files, ( I'm assuming its the USMT software). Then I get the message the task sequence service failed with error code 0x80004005. My major question is why is OSDStateStorePath environment variable empty and how do I fix that problem? This is my first attempt at using USMT so I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, I'm not sure where to look.
