I am rolling out Windows 7 workstations using SCCM. I have created a GPO to map a shared printer. The shared printer maps fine, but when the user selects the printer to print, it says the printer driver has not been installed. I believe this is due to permissions. How can I overcome this? Can I install the printer driver using SCCM? If so, how? Thanks.

I have created a task sequence which has been working fine. All of a sudden it has stopped working and only works if the software install tasks are disabled. It looks as though the network is an issue but once the install software tasks are disabled, it works fine. Any ideas.

When I set up WSUS for SCCM, the guidance was that WSUS was to be installed but not configured. To deploy Forefront updates, the guidance says that this should be handled via WSUS and not SCCM. Here I have a conflict of information as both need to be on the same WSUS server. Can you clarify my understanding?

I am implementing Forefront and will apply the definitions via SCCM. My WSUS (SUP) server in SCCM is Windows 2008 R2. The distribution server for Forefront does not support R2. Can I install another WSUS server in SCCM as a Software Update Point? This will save me rebuilding my current SUP server. Thanks.

Thanks. Have this working now. Wasn't sure whether when an application is installed as part of a task sequence, if you were still able to install on a machine that is not being deployed using OSD. Ta.

I am currently deploying Windows 7 using OSD and a task sequence which also installed Office plus some other applications. If I have a machine that I want to deploy Office on, but I cannot advertise it as it is part of the task sequence, what would be the best approach for installing?

All resolved now. It seems that the installation of R2 caused the issues. Remove PXE service point, removed WDS and reinstalled both. Now all working.

Physical hardware. Storage space is fine, MAC is fine and task sequence is advertised to collection OK. This has all previously been tested so not sure why this hiccup at the moment. The storage is using ISCSI on a NetApp though. Was not aware of R2 feature for unknown computers. Not sure we want to enable this as it could cause us problems if workstations were built accidentally.

I'm now having a different problem: Boots and picks up client ip x.x.x.x mask x.x.x.x DHCP IP x.x.x.x Gateway IP x.x.x.x TFTP.... and nothing.

I have enabled this option, restarted the Windows Deployment Services Server service and booted the workstation and it still stops at Contacting Server x.x.x.x.........

I have found this option as I have R2 installed. As I enable it I am presented with a warning. What is the consequence of enabling this option?

Not sure. How would I find this out? It was working but has just stopped this week. I had to recreate my boot image but I can't see how this would have caused it.

I have been building machines using PXE boot and OSD then today it seems to have stopped working. When I boot a machine, it PXE boots, assigns an IP address... Then there is a message ... Request ID 3 Contacting Server x.x.x.x ................................................. ... and the dots just carry on. Any ideas what may have gone wrong here as it was working fine. I have tried 2 machines with the same result. Also, are there any considerations when building an AMD machine over an Intel machine? Thanks.

How do I use this process in conjuction with SCCM?

I've added the machine to the collection that this is advertised to. Hence it is being applied, but just keeps looping. I've checked the advertisement and it was set to "always rerun program". Could this be the issue? Have now set it to "Never rerun advertised program".

I have created a Task Sequence for PXE booting to install Windows 7. The machine builds but when I log on it says there is a task waiting to run in 5 minutes. The machine reboots and it installs again, and so on. The task name is the task I have created but I can't work out why it is looping. I've attached a screen shot for assistance. Many thanks, Sarah.
