While deploying Windows 7 after WINPE when it reboots and starts intializing hardware devices,and while applying OS image i recieve an error 0x8007002. I am deploying it on Vmware workstation machine.Also the Xp is a n licensed version whereas the Windows 7 is not licensed copy. Is it beacuse of that it is preventing it from moving ahead. The smsts.log states that the network acccess account is incoorect, i provided it again but still the pb isnt resolved, teh folder where the wim file resides is propely shared and has permission too. I have also attached smts.log for your reference.Please suggest. smsts.log

Thanks i changed it successfully to IDE and able to proceed ahead. But while applyling OS Image i get Error 0x8007002, any idea how do i fix this

Click OK to terminate. I am deploying it on Vmware machine. I read on technet that need to change the SCSI type to IDE, but it does allow me to chnage even if i try to create new vm it takes as default SCSI only. Please Suggest

The smp folder is already shared and has rights. Does USMT folder needs to be shared as i have use the Local drive seeeting while creating the package for USMT. Also in System Status, SMP component is marked red even if istart the service, how to do resolve the error.Tried resetting all the couts(Errors & warnings). I also was able to get some help from the link http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1007-state-migration-point-not-working/ as in the status message it was showing the same error related to hhtp but no success. Any suggestion.

I have also configured SMP and provided the value where the data will get stored and while creating TS i check the option use state migration option to save the data. On the workstation,i have client agent installed ,is in domain and i am advertising it directly under ALL Windows XP collection since there is only one machine whih i need to migrate from XP to Windows 7, so i havent created any new collection. Also i am not using computer association. i am bit confused with the steps invloved while doing USMT , is there need to use the .xml files or the default settings are enough. Secondly can anyone pls help /provide me the steps to go ahead as i am getting 0x00004005 error when the TS is progressing Release User Storage.

I dont have the above KB974571 installed, i cant find this in ADD remove program too. I have created package for USMT 4.0 and also added the SMP role

From the log i found that it was having some problem with one of the s/w package i created i just removed it from the TS to check and it worked fine and the TS started showing the notfication. But after some time i get an error 0x00004005 stating that 'Release user state storage.Exceution of task sequence failed' Unknown Error (error:0x00004005;Source:Unknow

The Task sequence does not start even for normal s/w distribution.Tried taking remote control and it is working properly. i also restarted WMI service, but no o/p

There are more than 5 agents installed.The ClientLocation.log didnt show much information though but LocationServices.log showed few warning stating that Unknown task LSProxyMPModificationTask in non-quarantine - ignoring i also restarted the services mentioned. LocationServices.log ClientLocation.log

I dont know why smsts.log is not gettign created , will check othere log files which you mentioned meanwhile. Thanks for teh prompt reply.

The client server connectivity is there, i even tried reinstalling client agent and it gets reinstalled. Steps i followed for deployment: 1.Distributed the predefined bootimage both 86 and 64 bit to DP 2.Add the captured wim in the OS Image and distributed it to DP. 3.Created packages for MS office and USMT 4.0 and ditsributed them too. 4.Created TS using Installing existing image and advertise it. On client side i do not see anything ,i have also enable the notification option in the TS. I also tried intiating the User Retrieval and Machine Retrieval policy on client side through the CM console, but the TS did not start.

I added the captured.wim file and advertise the task sequence the way its mentioned in the forum. But the task sequence does not start.how do i troubleshoot it or check the log files as on the client machine it does not show anything.

I troubleshooted the smsts.log file found that there were permission issues with NAC and also updated the ditribution points and pointed it again in TS.That resolved the issue. Thanks the articles are very useful in these forums.

Thanks for the prompt reply, but i am using the boot.wim already defined when we install Config Mngr which does not have n/w drivers in it. Besides that if i use the boot.wim from the windows 7 iso extracted under source folder then on the client end i get the error stating the Windows Configuration data file is not a valid OS. meanwhile i try out the suggestion mentioned by you.

I am capturing windows 7 Image from task sequence using Build and capture option. On Client machine it loads the boot file and i see the SCCM screen for a while and a progress bar stating that Intializing PXE ... for a while and after that it reboots and login into windows but no task sequence progress is seen also smsts.log is also not getting generated to troubleshoot On server when i check the task sequence status, it shows No status under Exceuting State. Please suggest.

Eswar, I am capturing XP image from Task sequence using Build and Capture option. Also the network settings on the Vmware workstation i have set teh option to Host only. Vmware DHCP service is also stopped.

i am trying to capture the XP image on vmware workstation, but when it boots i recived the below error saying that ProxyDHCP offers were recieved but No DHCP offers were recieved. how do i troubleshoot , any suggestions

But on Server 2008, when i configure WDS i am unable to get the settings mentioned to change it all it shows are the paths for Default boot program and Default boot image (PSA file for reference) WDS-Properties.bmp

Yes i want to avoid pressing F12 and i am working on server 2008.

I am working on Vmware image and using Build & Capture option to create Windows XP SP3 wim file. when i reboot the client machine it starts downloading WDSNBP and immediately i recive an message promting to press F12 for network service boot WDS and DHCP services are running,Is there anything to be taken care of while working on vmware.
