Win7 Deploys to D: not C:

Question

Help :-) ...again

We have, for the past few months been using SCCM to deploy Windows XP. Took us hours of work and scripting but we finally got there in the end.

Now we are testing Windows 7. The build and capture task is hitting a VM so we can get our gold wim image created.

The weird issue we have is that once Windows 7 is installed it's on D: not C:

TS has been set to format disk 0 and windows should install to the first partition, then I even tried assigning a drive letter.

any ideas?

Thanks

I had this problem, when using the .wim file it automatically puts it onto D:\ but when using the original source CD it installs happily on C:\

What I did was edit "APPLY OS" part in the task sequence and chose the destination as "specific logical drive letter"

That worked for me...

One way to avoid it is using the build and capture sequence - handy if you have laptops that don't have drivers that play nice with SCCM.

I copied the contents of the Windows 7 DVD to a network location and made an installation package from it using the 'Add Operating System Install Package' wizard. From there edit the task sequence to specify that installation package and specify that it should be placed on drive C:. That has worked wonderfully for me.
