Software Not deploying

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Hopefully someone can help me with an issue we have been having.

We have had SCCM 2007 version 4.00.6487.2000 Installed on Windows 2008 R2 running for 2 years with no issues but the following error has just started occuring.

When i deploy software to a group, the advertisment runs normally, and the client picks up the advert. I can see that the software has been successfully checked into the DP. So in the advertisment status i see 2 messages:

1st message:

Advertisement "GHQ2009D" was received from site "xxx".

The client passes any supported platform requirements and the SMS will add the advertisement's program to the list that will be displayed to users and/or run via assignment. If an advertisement is received but not displayed on a client, verify that the current time on the client is between the advertisement start and expiration times, and that the program specified in the advertisement is enabled.

2nd Message:

The program for advertisement "GHQ2009D has not yet started because the content for the package "GHQ0006F" - "program name" (version 2) has not been acquired. Possible cause: The content for this program must be downloaded into the computer's cache, or the content could not be located.
Solution: If the program is being downloaded, no action is required. The program will start once the download has been successfully completed. If the content can not be located, ensure that a distribution point with this content is available for this computer. Distribution point availability can be affected by roaming boundary configuration which is used to determine whether distribution points are classified as local or remote, or by enabling distribution points as protected distribution points. Distribution point availability can also be affected if you are using branch distribution points and the advertisement is configured with the option Run program from distribution point instead of Download content from distribution point and run locally. This is because branch distribution points do not support advertisements that are configured to run directly from a distribution point.

This is all that happens in the SCCM console, if i check the cas.log on a client i see:

Cas.log

If i look in the cache folder on the client, the GHQ0006F.2.System folder has been created but it is empty.

Ive tried everything i can think of, but im getting nowhere. Can anyone advise on what i can check next?

As another note i have checked and recreated the boundary that is used within our site.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Are there anu errors in the System status on the site server? anything in the event log?

I would start by checking that BITS is working on the IIS server and that no firewall changes are made.

Regards,
Jörgen

Hi Jörgen,

Thanks for your reply.

The only errors that is showing is in the SMS_SOFTWARE_INVENTORY_PROCESSOR component. Which is showing:

The data file "E:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager\inboxes\auth\sinv.box\Orphans\cbjmt11i.SID" that was submitted by the client whose SMS unique ID is "GUID:FAD30752-A177-44AE-A4D8-613636A257C1", was rejected because the file was signed but the authentication key did not match the recorded key for this client.

I dont think this is related though.

What i have noticed is on my client, in the CAS.log i see the error:

<![LOG[No matching DP Location found]LOG]!><time="16:22:13.238+000" date="01-24-2014" component="ContentAccess" context="" type="1" thread="2432" file="locationcontentrequest.cpp:611">

And the locationservices.log is showing:

<![LOG[unable to retrieve AD site membership]LOG]!><time="16:22:13.224+000" date="01-24-2014" component="LocationServices" context="" type="1" thread="2432" file="lsad.cpp:462">

I hope that means more to you than i does to me?

Thanks

The other thing that is strange is that out of the 100 or so clients that the advert is advertised to, 6 have downloaded and installed the software. The rest still show no content has been downloaded.

There is no difference between the clients and the clients which are not working are configured correctly (i have even tried reinstalling the client but with no success).

No matching DP Location found... this is generally a boundry issue... you can try changing the boundry type....

PS- add "auth users" in security group for SMSPKGD$ also you can try adding for other folders too
