Error when Deploying Windows 7 with TS

Question

Hi guys,

 

Can someone help me on this error that Im getting? I have configured everything is instructed on the deploy windows 7 pagew however im getting the following error:]Windows PE cannot start because the actual SYSTEMROOT directory(X:\Windows) is different from the configured one (x:\Windows~BT\Windows). This can be configured with the dism /set-targetpath command. Please consult the documentation for more details. Press the OK button or close this message to reboot

 

Where do i go from here?

open a command prompt (f8) and check diskpart

see if you have two partitions or more on the hard disc, one could be bittlocker, the other could be recovery partition direct from the oem

 

are you using an image you made yourself or one from an OEM ?

hi anyweb,

 

yes I checked and there is no other partition. this machine was previously image with my windows xp image that requires only one partition. in case this bit of information makes any diference, we have never deployed Win7 in here, this is the 1st time that we play with it in case there is something that I need to upgrade to create the WinPE disk or the boot.wim

no worries ! this is the right place to be a noob,

 

the file is there, somewhere, see here how to find it and how to enable F8

so, remove the Windows 7 product key from the task sequence and try again please
