  1. Let's continue on this bizarre train. On the client for Policy Applied it has 8/2/2016 at 3:13 PM. It's 12:36 PM local time right now and August 2nd.
  2. So I have a few test machines with Windows 1607 running. In Windows Defender I noticed that the definitons are up to date, however in SCCM under the Active client protection with Endpoint Protection report, it's shows an old definition version. Most of the time it's from when I last rebooted the machine. All my other Windows 10 1511 clients report up to date information hourly. Anyone else seeing this?
  3. I'm on Windows Server 2012R2 running WSUS 6.3.9600.18057. I read somewhere that the upgrade category has yet to be made public. Any truth to that?
  4. I have applied that update and still do not see the Upgrade classification in WSUS. Is there something else I must do?
  5. Currently I have a Windows 7 machine that has Bitlocker. I just want to know the best way to wipe the drive (format) and install Windows 8.1 via a task sequence. Right now I have Disable Bitlocker -> Restart in Windows PE -> Partition Disk 0 - UEFI -> Pre-provision BitLocker -> Apply OS, etc.. Also, will the pre-provision Bitlocker setup reinitialize TPM? Would that work?
  6. Yup all I did was run setup.exe /auto:upgrade and it ran silently in the background. Restarted the computer a few times and loaded 8.1. As for the start screen you can do that after the fact with group policy. I did run a PowerShell script that unprovisions certain apps. So if you have never logged on before your start screen basically has the store, desktop, IE, and file explorer titles. Everything else is under the all apps view. I don't mind the start screen getting personalized by users, not too much craziness can happen there right now.
  7. I'll go ahead here and answer my own question. I deployed this like a normal application and it worked pretty smoothly. On our oldest machine (AMD 350 with 4GB RAM) it took around a hour. On our fastest machine around 20 minutes.
  8. I really don't see much information on this yet around the web but can you deploy Windows 8.1 Enterprise to Windows 8 Enterprise machine so they are upgraded. Right now my thinking is to create a package that contains the source files from the Windows 8.1 Enterprise ISO. Then for the program use setup.exe /auto:upgrade as the command. Its just that this would be a 4GB deploy. Is there a update going around that would just contain the update bits not the whole OS?
  9. I think WDS on Windows Server 2008 R2 can not network boot (PXE) x86 UEFI hence the issue. If you look at the link below you and scroll down to Extensible Firmware Interface you will see what I mean. So I guess you either need to install SCCM on a Windows Server 2012 machine, or use MDT and WDS on Windows Server 2012 machine or just stay away from x86 tablets and wait for Intel Atom Baytrail and x64 UEFI. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh974416.aspx
  10. Just wondering if anyone here has gotten a Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 to network PXE boot to SCCM. Right now I'm using the Lenovo USB Ethernet adapter and it does start the PXE boot process and finds the server. After that I see Downloading NBP file... Succeeded to download NBP file and then it goes on to the next boot device. In the SMSPXE log file nothing looks odd and I see no warnings, it finds the advertisment and the last log entry is looking for BootImage. I have an x86 boot image for this TS but maybe I should use the x64 one? I know this is an Atom device and that it's x86 but it's pulling the smsboot\x64\pxeboot.com file. Which I think is a little odd. I haven't tired yet via bootable media but I really wan't to get this to work via PXE network boot.
  11. Did you see a prompt about selecting a wireless network? Or since SCCM connects it to a domain it pulls policy and ignores all the OOBE stuff? Sorry about the noob question about I'm new to this stuff. Leaving Symantec Ghost. While there are lots of steps here I find it much more powerful.
  12. Hey once again thank you for this great article. How in the world did Microsoft forget about PXE? Anyway quick question and it's probably dumb but with this setup are their any prompts for user customization before they reach the login screen? Or should I build an answer file and plug it in here so that it goes striaght to the login screen?
  13. You can find it here: http://myitforum.com/myitforumwp/2012/01/17/configmgr-2012-rc2-hits-the-intertubes-today/
