  1. Hi, In SCCM 2012, we have a task sequence that installs package in the very end after setting up operating system. We have tried two approaches: 1. Using Install package step (the package has a program associated with it which executes the vb script eventually) 2. Using Run Command line step (in command line executing script and attach the package. The second approach executes fine but the first approach halts on executing the script (sometime it hangs there forever). A few times we have seen an error that it doesn't find the file specified (in smsts.log) Since the script is executed in secondapproach, there should not be any issue in script. Any help, suggestion is welcomed for first approach because that's how we want to install package as it works in SCCM 2007. FYI, this is on SCCM 2012 RC build. Thanks,
  2. My task sequence paritions and formats a hard drive, applies a WIM image, but when it gets to the Setup Windows and Configuration Manager step, it reboots the computer without an error. Windows then installs devices and gets ready to boot for the first time, then it goes back to SCCM and just sits there doing nothing. I've tried using the Client package that points to the "Client" folder and I've also tried making a package that points to the ClientUpgrade folder. In both cases, the task sequence seems to load ccmsetup but then it needs to reboot the machine. I don't understand why it reboots and then tries to continue the task sequence after "setting up the computer for first boot". The same task sequence works fine on my SCCM 2007 R3 environment, and it does not reboot after the Setup Windows and Configuration Manager step, it just continues the task sequence until it finishes, then reboots the machine installs the devices and boots into Windows fine. Any suggestions? I have been struggling with this for a while now...
  3. I have an SCCM 2007 R3 server and an SCCM 2012 RC server both set up as primary sites and both have the same Site Code. Will this cause conflicts? I noticed in Active directory only one of them shows up in the System Management CN even if I try to delegate the other server with full control.
  4. Does anyone know if SCCM 2012 supports iLO 2 or iLO 3? I have been getting random errors when trying to provision on an iLO 2 box through SCCM 2012 RC. After trying a few times it will randomly work and I have a feeling it has to do with iLO 2. Thanks.
  5. When I mount the SCCM boot ISO to a VM, it connects to the SCCM server and grabs a task sequence. The task sequence copies the PreInstallation Environment to the VM, and then says I need to remove the CD and reboot the machine. If I unmount the ISO and reboot, the task sequence finishs fine. If I don't unmount it, it keeps rebooting and restarting the task sequence. Is there a way to prevent having to unmount the ISO, or have it automatically done? I didn't see this issue in SCCM 2007. I need to automate this deployment so having to manually unmount the ISO is not practical.
  6. I am now getting an error on the Task Sequence. Failed to Run Task Sequence. An error occured while starting the task sequence (0x80070002).
  7. If it helps, in the smsts log, I noticed an error: "MP Location returned an empty site code" and also "RequestMPLocation failed"
  8. Nevermind I got the ISO working, I had to add that boot.wim file to the ISO. When I boot from it and click next on the Task Sequence wizard, it tries retrieving the policy for the computer and then I get an error: Failed to Run Task Sequence. An error occurred while retrieving policy for this computer (0x80070057). For more information, contact your system administrator or helpdesk operator. If I try to configure network settings before that, it shows my Intel NIC and I can manually set a static IP if I want, so I believe the drivers are OK.
  9. In SCCM I enabled command support on the boot image, but now what? I found that it is a boot.wim file, so I mounted it to a directory, and then created an ISO from that directory. When I mounted the ISO to my VM it said BOOTMGR not found.
  10. I created the VM in SCVMM 2012 RC, and the same VM worked with SCCM 2007. I used all the same resources from the 2007 environment so I don't think I would have to add any network drivers but I could be wrong.
  11. This is my first post and I would like to say that this is a fantastic website with lots of great information. I am very glad I stumbled upon it. I am having an issue with my SCCM 2012 environment: I have an SCCM 2007 environment that works fine, and I tried replicating the settings when configuring my SCCM 2012 RC environment. I used the same OS images, boot images, and packages that I used in 2007. To test OS deployment, I create a VM, attach the boot image created with SCCM 2012, and when the VM boots up with the SCCM 2012 screen, it says "Windows is starting up" then "Preparing network connections" and then reboots. This cycle continuously loops. The VM I created is in the collection I am using. I have a deployment in the collection that points to the task sequence. I added the ditribution point to a group and added that group to the collection. How can I debug this? I am not sure if it is a site setting, or something with my task sequence or what. The only setting I could not find in SCCM 2012 that I configured in 2007 was to "Allow clients to transfer content from this distribution point using BITS, HTTP, and HTTPS" but I am not sure if that is the reason I am having this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Joe
