  1. Hi all; I was having this issue as well so I started googling every error in the smsts.log file. I came up with this: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/ie/en-US/0ef77026-cd92-4453-b32d-3833fcf2d0b8/request-state-store-problems-with-windows-10-usmt?forum=configmanagergeneral&prof=required . Running the PowerShell command fixed my problem. A few days later I encountered a second computer that was doing something similar and again I ran this script and it worked. Hope it helps. WD
  2. Ok this worked great. It will definitely save me a bunch of time. However, I might be missing something. I have a bunch of laptops, all identical, that I want identical software and configuration on. I created a model computer, I created two extra partitions on the hard drive, my sccm client is installed to one of them. When I capture the drive as per this article the wim that I imported into SCCM shows 5 partitions however after deploying the wim to another laptop the second laptop only has the 1 primary partition. To build my model I did a clean install of Windows 10 (1709) blowing away all existing partitions and installing on the single raw partition. Once Windows was installed I went to disk management and shrank the c: drive by 110 gigs. Then I created a 60 gig drive and a 50 gig drive in the 110 gig partition. The captured wim has all the partitions but when deploying the wim only the C: drive partition. Kinda missing Ghost where it would capture the whole drive then when you deployed it, it repartitioned the drives for you. WD
  3. Step 9. SQL Memory Configuration The script referenced in this step. I've installed SQL now I want to configure the memory. Oops, my apologies, Looks like I had an older version of the Scripts.zip file. I noticed it when I went to install the SCCM and the script was named for 1607. WD
  4. What configuration.ini file? And if we are not using the eval software then what do we put in the $ProductID variable in the Install SCCM script?
  5. I have several labs that require software that can not be deployed using SCCM. So I need to be able to build a model computer and then capture an image of the model. However, most of our software is deployed using SCCM. So my model computer has to be domain joined, have most of the software deployed using SCCM, then install and configure the other software. Then I'm hoping that I can simply take it off the domain and then capture the image based on this tutorial. Is there any problems with that approach? Can a custom sysprep unattend file be used? All and any comments greatly appreciated WD
  6. I'd like to create a powershell script to do the cleanup on the computer before capturing the image. Is there a powershell command that will remove the certificates? This article is a godsend for me. I have several computer labs that have strange configurations and software that can't be installed using SCCM. So I need to create model computers with all the software installed and the configurations made then take an image and push out the image. With Win7 I've always been able to use Ghost but our version of Ghost won't work with Win8 or 10 and the boss wants to use SCCM in the future. Thanks very much for a great article. WD
  7. Great guide as usual. I downloaded the latest Technical Preview and then used this guide to get it all setup. It seems to be functioning however it's not creating the boundaries nor is it finding any of the other computers on my network. Any ideas what I might have done wrong? I've checked the firewall GPO. I suspect the problem is that none of the other computers have any SCCM related user accounts. All and any comments greatly appreciated. WD
  8. Are these guides still valid for SCCM 2012 R2? Thanks for the great guides. WD
  9. If I have a limiting collection called campus and there are two collections called staff and student. Can I setup a compliance setting so that the limiting collection gets the schools website as it's homepage and then the Staff collection has the staff Intranet as it's homepage? All and any comments or suggestions greatly appreciated WD
  10. Ok, I've successfully deployed an application to 3 different computers. However on one of the computers I'm getting an error that says the application was not detected following installation. On closer examination I've found that the time last modified on the application executable has been changed. My detection rule is looking for a time of 11:58:04 and on the problem system the modified time is 8:58. On the two successful systems the time and date modified are as I expected. How would this have gotten changed? Do I even need to specify the time? All and any comments greatly appreciated. WD
  11. I've got the Reporting working well thanks to you. Do you know of a good site to teach us how to create reports? I'd also like to be able to filter the results of one of the canned reports. When I run the 'Compliance history of a configuration baseline', I get multiple computers showing up. I'd like to filter out the older entries and keep only the most recent status. Thanks again for the great series. I'm off to view your Compliance instructions. WD
  12. So I imagine that this can be done using PXE boot instead of a capture media. So how would I do that? Love your posts. They have been a godsend in my efforts to learn SCCM WD
  13. What would happen if there were multiple task sequences deployed to the same collection. Would pressing F12 bring up a menu of task sequences?
  14. Joy of Joys I'm making progress. 3 times now I've managed to deploy to my virtual machine. But each time it finishes the deployment and then reboots. It doesn't do the capture. Attached are my log files from the virtual machine. I really appreciate all the help. I'm not sure how anyone would learn this software without folks like you. WD smsts7.txt smsts7a.txt smsts7b.txt
  15. Ok another shot at it tonight and no joy. Now it's not getting even as far as the partitioning and formatting of the drive. I did change the DP to allow anonymous access. My log file from x:\windows\temp\smstslog is attached All and any comments greatly appreciated. WD smsts6.txt
  16. Ok, I am getting the same error message as Lowboost. In my case I think I know what my problem is. I believe my install.wim contains 4 different operating systems. From W7 Home to W7 Ultimate. I'm trying to push out Ultimate but I'm not sure the files for that are getting to the DP. Not sure how to get around this. I'm using Sccm 2012 SP1 Attached is the log file from x:\windows\temp Thanks for all and any comments or suggestions smsts3.txt
  17. Hmmm I suspect you are correct and that I installed as myself (domain admin) So is there a way to correct this? Thanks again for a great guide.
  18. Thankyou very much for a great set of guides, I'm finding them quite helpful. However, in step 2 of this guide, when I login to my server as smsadmin I am unable to connect to the SCCM site through the SCCM console. I get this message: The user account running the Configuration Manager console has insufficient permissions to read information from the Configuration Manager site database. The account must belong to a security role in Configuration Manager. The account must also have the Windows Server Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) Remote Activation permission for the computer running the Configuration Manager site server and the SMS Provider. What did I do wrong? I can login as myself and run the console easily enough. Can I do the configuration as myself since I have domain admin privileges? Thanks again WD
