  1. I am getting the following error: The error was: "DNS name does not exist." (error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR) The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.sage.dom Common causes of this error include the following: - The DNS SRV records required to locate a AD DC for the domain are not registered in DNS. These records are registered with a DNS server automatically when a AD DC is added to a domain. They are updated by the AD DC at set intervals. This computer is configured to use DNS servers with the following IP addresses: 192.168.2.XXX - One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its child zone: sage.dom dom . (the root zone) I demoted the older server from being a DC and now I am getting this error: how can i fix this?
  2. Rocket Man, thanks for the reply. How can I tell if there is a trust between them? I am self taught and I am learning on the fly.
  3. Hello everyone, Wondering if I could get some advise. I have 2 servers 1) Windows server 2008 R2 Roles Active Directory Domain Controller (GC) DNS Files services 2) Windows Server 2003 Roles DHCP Print Server DNS Domain Controller I want to move the following roles over to the Windows 2008 server ( DHCP, Print Services) and I want to wipe out the Windows 2003 server and upgrade to Windows 2008. Do i need to demote the Windows Server 2003 first from being a DC, then wipe out? Thank s for help and advice. I have attached a copy of some of the roles, any help and advice will be great.
  4. I want to be able to have user's remote in from the outside of the network. I know I need public IP and I got that but I don't know how to setup profiles for people, so when they login they see mapped drives and shortcuts to their folders. I don't know scripting and since it is less than a handfull of users. I could do it manually for each person. I am also located in New york City and would love to connect with other Admins to learn from.
