  1. Morning all and Happy New Year to you. I am in the process of trying to add a new Distribution Point but im not to sure exactly how to go about it. At the moment we have just one primary site and i want to add a secondary DP to one of our servers in a remote location. I have created a new 'Site System Server' via the admin pane and followed the wizard etc but after that its hard to see what is actually going on. Do i need to create a 'Sources' share on the new server like i did when setting up the primary server DP? Ideally i just want it to replicate everything from the Primary DP to the new one but feel maybe i have missed a step somewhere. Would someone mind lending me a hand? Many Thanks
  2. Hi there I followed the below guide from this forum to create my own wim file as i had a few extra files and folders i wanted to add to the base image. Its really straight forward and does the trick perfectly. Hope it helps http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/5070-how-can-i-capture-an-image-using-capture-media-in-configmgr-2012/
  3. Hi guys I have gone to the 'import computer information' tab under assets and added in a random computer name as well as the mac address supplied by hyper v. I point it to my 'PXE boot' collection i created and it seems to go through ok. The machine appears in the all system list but not in the PXE collection list i specified. I'm really stumped now.. Any ideas whats happened here? EDIT Solved the issue, for some reason the default limiting collection had been set to servers and clients instead of all systems
  4. Thanks you very much for this, I am having the issue also where windows wants to install to D no i have resolved the issue you mention. I have added the osd variable to the TS above the apply image stage but it still seems to want to deploy to D. I have decided to remove the 'Apply data image 1' as i though that was using the C drive letter but still get the same issue once its deployed. Is there any other way i can get this to install to the C drive? Im thinking of maybe trying to capture a wim file from my Windows 7 VM im creating to see if that helps rather than capturing through SCCM Thanks for your help much appreciated
  5. Many Thanks for this guys will try this out today for sure Thanks again Liam
  6. Good evening all, Just wondered if someone maybe able to lend me a hand. First off thanks so much for the guides on this site that are top draw and very easy to follow. I have a few brand new bare metal pc's that I would like to deploy my windows 7 image to. These have never been turned off so will not have the client installed or be on the network. Is there a way to be able to pxe boot a new PC? I was thinking maybe I could import it manually by adding the Mac address in by looking in the bios during boot but obviously there will be no computer name assigned. Is this possible? Many thanks all Liam
  7. Hi guys I can PXE boot a physical laptop just fine but for some reason my hyper v VM reboots just after the checking networks screen, im guessing i need to add the hyper v vm network drivers to the boot image but im not sure what driver it is i actually need? The VM is running on a dell laptop Any ideas?
  8. Hi All I'm having a slight issue getting my windows 7 deployment to work, i can pxe boot just fine and select the task sequence. It then starts to download the image but then just errors about halfway through the deploy. I have the end part of the log below where the error occoirs but i just cant quite make it out. Would someone be able to assist? 10. Doesnt seem to make a difference im afraid, i just want to be able to see this smspxe.log to maybe see whats going on but i cannot find it anywhere. I have looked in all the windows directories but had no luck Anyone else ever had this? Many Thanks Liam
  11. Thanks for that much appreciated, i have browsed to this location which is on the local C drive, i can see the folder of log files but there is no log in there for smspxe.log
  12. Hi All Just getting my head around the SCCM 2012R2 server, the guide you provided is fab so thanks a mill for that! As far as i can see i have everything setup as per the guide. The problem i have is when i try and pxe boot a machine i get the error "sccm pxe configuration manager is looking for policy" I have marked both the x86 x64 boot images to be pxe booted and added them both to the distribution point. (We only have one) I have also created a sources folder and added the extracted Windows 7 ISO files to it. I have created the task sequence and pointed it towards a test folder collection that has only 1 machine in it. I added the machine in question via the computer information import as although it was in the all systems list for some reason it was not pulling through into this folder collection via the system resource ou name rule that i setup. I cannot locate the smspxe.log file anywhere to look into that for some information. We do have a WDS which i have powered off to avoid any conflicts. I can see its trying to boot to the IP of the SCCM server but just cannot get any further. Would someone be able to lend me some advice? Many Thanks guys
