  1. We have building out our new SCCM 2012, we had it in our R&D and everything was wonderful, the person I have been working with to do the install seemed to know what she was doing, very cautious. BUT, when she did the install in production she used the same site code, even though I had told her to use a new one, actually the same as we had used in the R&D We had not planned to do a migration, we planned to start from scratch and push out the new client as well as re add all our software and OS images, the old 2007 had a crash a few months back and has been limping along so we thought this was a better way to go. So, what factors are going to come to play as we are not ready to make the switch yet? Wish we could change the Site Code, be so much easier. Thanks for any advice, comments. Derek
  2. Have used your guides before and recommended them to other. Do you have this guide as a PDF? Cheers. Derek
  3. Yes it has communicated with the site.
  4. Using SCCM to deploy Windows 7 x64. The install of the OS works just find, very impressed, but in the console the newley imaged systems show up but the console does not show them correctly Name: The machine name shows correctly Resource: System Domain "this is correct" Site Code: SC1 Client: No Approved : N/A Assigned: Yes Blocked: this is blank Client Type: this is also blank Running SCCM with SP2.
  5. I was wondering exactly the same thing.
  6. Thanks for the great advice. Will have a look at the program you suggested. It's to bad that MS could not have included a way for people to be able to re-image a system quickly and easily in SCCM as it was/is in RIS and WDS. :-)
  7. Thanks for the reply. Thats makes good sense to me. So once these systems have been imaged and a tech in the field needs to reimage it, we have a 30 minute rule, how would he be able to reimage without using the SCCM console.
  8. I have setup a TS and advertised it to the All Systems Collection. It's a optional advertisment. PXE boot and can select the TS. Systems does install. Go to redi the same system again and it will by pass the PXE (F12)
  9. I am getting no PXE boot. I know about the clear last PXE, which seems hit and miss, but I would really like SCCM to behave like the p;dd RIS or WDS I guess now
  10. HI all, In the good old days of RIS I could have my field techs when they had reached the end of their 30 minitye troubleshooting window just re RIS the system. Most of the time it grabbed it's orginal computer name, the tech could just then walk away knowing the system would continue on to install the OS then continue on to install sofware from SMS. I am trying to have a similar process in SCCM using the OSD deployment but now having much success, so what do I want? I want to be able to provision bare metal systems easily, that part works, I can pop in a Mac address of a system, have a task applied to a collection based on that system type and Bobs your uncle it works. But when we try yo refresh that box by reinstalling the OS I have havig a touch time. Any ideas?? Thanks
  11. Running SCCM 2007 on a Server 2008 Virtual server on VMware. Everythings runs fine apart fromthe PXE boot which is really very very slow. It get to the F12 screen not bad, but then takes for ever loading files. I figured this new system would be a little slower than WDS PXE boot, but this is crazy. Any thoughts? Derek
  12. So do I disable the RIS on the current system to allow the SCCM server to respond to PXE requests from systems?
  13. With your awesome step by step guides I have setup SCCM 2007 and all works. The step I am unsure of is setting up Windows Deployemnt Services. I have SCCM setup on a Server 2008 system. Currently we have RIS setup on our network but I want to switch to using WDS/SCCM. Would I setup WDS on the SCCM system and therefore that becomes the PXE point, or would I use another server such as a DC? Thoughts? Thanks again, your guides are the the best. Derek
