  1. Hi All, We are about ready to deploy SCCM 2012. One of my goals with this new version is to make it easier on our Helpdesk group. Part of this will be done by using the Application Catalog. For those of you already running 2012, and have implemented the Application Catalog, how is that experience going for your users? For OSD, I'm sure there's an easier way than what we're currently doing. Basically, unknown support is being used for new computers. For a refresh, they manually add a machine in the console, to the appropriate collection. What method(s) do any of you use for OSD with regards to refreshing a machine?
  2. When you do a capture on the VM, do you remove the VMWare tools first (or not have them installed in the first place)?

    Format Partition

Thanks for the idea. I created a diskpart text file that selects disk 0, partition 1, then formats it. I added the text file to the boot image, then put in the TS a "run command line" calling diskpart and referencing the script.

    Format Partition

When deploying Windows, is there a way to format the first partition rather than the entire drive?
  5. I figured it out. I was following Microsoft's suggestion to cache the install. They say to edit the configuration.xml and turn on caching for something large like Office. I turned that off and it installs now.
  6. Hi all, I created an install for Office 2010. Tested it on one machine that had Office 2007 Pro on it, it worked as it should. Tested it on another machine that has Office 2007 Ent. on it. The advertisement report says it was successful, however, it still has 2007 on it. It takes about 30 seconds for it to report back that it succeeded. any ideas on this would be appreciated
  7. Are there any other steps involved with native mode?
  8. Yeah... none of that worked. Edit: I got it working. I made a mistake in the xml file
  9. I am trying to use SCCM 2007 to uninstall some Office 2007 products, specifically Project Pro. I set up a program in Software Dist. (for Project Pro) with setup.exe /uninstall PrjPro /config "PrjPro.WW\uninstall.xml" If I run this manually on a client, it works just fine. Pushing it through Config Manager, setup runs and runs and runs with no result - it eventually will go over it's time limit. I have tried with setup.exe and the .msi as well - as far as the msi, I found this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926279 I have installed and uninstalled Adobe products with no problems (Acrobat Std, Elements). Any ideas?
  10. I didn't realize how long it has been since I've been back here... time flies! For now I am testing with my pc as the only client for software distribution... it is not getting advertisements... hw/sw inventory is up to date... according to system/site status the package creation and distribution was successful... and dist. points are not protected. I am curious if having unnecessary system roles could be a problem. I am running in native mode, published to domain services and dns, crl enabled, http roaming enabled. All of the system roles are installed except pxe, asset intelligence, system health and state migration... The package I am trying to distribute is Visio 2007 (which is not installed on the client). The source directory is a separate file server. It's set to run whether or not a user is logged on. It is not set as a mandatory assignment (but I have tried that way too). Client side logs In execmgr.log I have 2 errors (the last one 3 days ago) "Software Distribution Site Settings for the client are missing from WMI" and "Common Client Agent Settings for the client are missing from WMI." I read these errors only occur until the client receives its first policy. In the policyevaluator.log there are no errors, part of the log says "Settings update not required. No changes detected." and "Evaluation not required. No changes detected" In several log files (certificatemaintenance.log) is "The 'Certificate Store' is empty in the registry, using default store name 'MY'." and there is also a "Raising Event" entry after each "Certificate Store is empty" entry, with clientID, DateTime, Hresult is 0x00000000, the ProcessID and ThreadID I wonder about this next part: in InternetProxy.log are 2 similar errors "Couldn't find 'CCM_NetworkProxy' instance for protocol http" ... or "https" but, I don't think the internetproxy.log is relevant since I'm on the intranet
  11. Thanks for the list. yes, yes and yes. I checked the LocationServices.log and found that it couldn't resolve the default management point. I am fixing that now...
  12. There's a hotfix for that, it's a known bug... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957576
  13. On our domain, client firewalls are disabled through group policy. What would be the log file(s) on client and server to search through, for package deployment?
  14. Hi all, I'm having a bit of a problem. I created a package for Office Pro 2007 and then advertised. The advertisement does not show up on the client even if made mandatory. SCCM2007 is running in native mode, all certs are set up. It's running on Server 2008 with SQL 2008, all with the latest sp's and/or updates. Our site is just a single primary site. I created a new collection with just my test machine in it. It's a Dell laptop, tried wireless and wired. It's got the client installed, not blocked or anything. The home page for Software Distribution shows the advertisement as not started and 0 waiting. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Randy
