  1. Hi, I was searching on how to expand the Console menus and found this post which brought me onto the right track, because i didn't really know what to google for. I had already found the "SCCM Client Actions Tool" which is really great work, but as you, I wanted it to integrate into the console. So I started searching for "SCCM console Action Extension" and found the appropriate Microsoft Documentation on the topic http://msdn.microsof...ibrary/hh948631 But somehow it didn't work and brought me back to google where i found this http://myitforum.com...ht-click-tools/ It gets you a lot a useful stuff right into the console just a right click away. I really felt the need to share this, maybe someone else finds it as usefull as i am! regards Stephan
  2. Hi @all when I advertise an application and don't set a mandatory assignment time the user gets an notification icon informing him of new software availability (My installation is German so i don't really know what the English version says...). So far so good. When i then click on the notification bubble or icon the "Add New Programs" window from "Control Panel" -> "Add or Remove Programs" shows up. It takes a few seconds and the advertised software is displayed, but there is now way of showing the details of the advertisement. Because I'm adding some important information to the comments (like "close all programs, will restart without warning") the user should read those. Is there a way of changing the behavior of the notification to start "Run Advertised Programs" GUI instead? This is all happening on XP Machines! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards Stephan
  3. Hi, Thanks it really didn't work with this setting, I think best would be to publish the MP to DNS when there is no AD extension installed. Maybe anyweb could add a hint to the guide here for others with no AD extension installed. I've fixed my WINS and published the MP to DNS and now my problem with the client site communication failing from this post has been fixed. The advertised software still doesn't work, but I will investigate further and open a new Post like you suggested if I can't get it to work. Thanks
  4. Hi yes the computer is in the collection, it is approved and assigned. The Site Code in ConfigMgr is correct but I've just noticed that the site mode is unknown. And I only have two Actions available, but they are the two underlined on the image of the deploy application guide: I'm guessing you are assuming I've installed the XP Computer with an SCCM Image which includes the Client, but that is not the case. I've installed the XP the old fashioned way and the Client had been installed by Client push installation after I changed the organization name. Or is there a need to Update the Client Setup used by Client push installation? Thanks for your help Stephan
  5. Hi, as I have posted to Part 2 of your config, I had problems with the Agents finding the SLP. now after that is working, I've followed your guide to Advertise a Software Package, but it doesn't reach the Client. I've changed the Organization name on the Computer Client Agent Properties dialog Customization tab but on my test machine (XP SP3) in Control Panel > Advertised Programs (no sure whats the real name my installation is German) the name doesn't change. So it seams that I'm still having some configuration issues here. Hope someone can provide any hints on how to track this problem down. Regards Stephan
  6. Hi, I've been following true our guide and it worked pretty well setting up SCCM. I'm currently not using the AD schema extension. So the Question is, is it required to publish the site to AD and create the System Management Container? Or does it even work without the AD extension installed? I've created a IP Boarder and used AD Systemdiscovery to find my machines. The Clientpushsetup worked but it couldn't discover the Site. Trying to Discover the site manually failed with "Automatic site code discovery was unsuccessful" I've searched online and found that the Server Location Point search utilizes WINS, but I manually configured the IP address without any wins addresses. The solution was to add the Server Location Point server name and disable WINS with the Installation Properties string: SMSSITECODE=<Site CODE> SMSDIRECTORYLOOKUP=NOWINS SMSSLP=<SERVER FQDN> SMSCACHESIZE=8000 So far I've not tried adding a wins server to the IP settings... maybe this will help others...
