  1. Hi, I have pilot tested OSD ZTI from all primaries. I hope that is what you meant by child primaries ready for initial Load. We have monthly software updates as a seperate task. I am not using install software updates from Task Sequence. One more thought i have had is if we deploy from primary site server we can have 5 Task sequences running at the same time and if any task sequence fails then we can troubleshoot individually but if the deployment happens from central then the entire OSD is halted. Please suggest. Regards, Vinay
  2. Hi, We are in the process of deciding on if we have to go for centralized management of OSD or De-centralized way. Here is the overview of the hierarchy. We have a central, 5 Primaries and 20 Secondary sites, we have 5 PXE servers connected to primary site servers. We have installed PXE service point role on all the secondary site servers as well but we have not hosted a image on the secondary sites for now. I have successfully tested windows 7 ZTI on all the primaries. I am able to successfully join the machines to domain and the respective OU's as well. All the servers are running on Windows Server 2003 SP2, SCCM Sp2 R3. Now that the pilot testing on primary site successful our management wants to go for mass Deployment of OSD on more than 6500 Machines in 1 month. Is it recommended to have de-centralized management of OSD or centralized management. We have a requirement that once the machine joins domain it has to move to a specific OU. OU's are segregated based on regions, Laptops and Desktops. I am interested to know the Advantages and Dis-advantages of having centralized management of OSD. Will running of many task sequences at the same time impact the central site server's performance. Requesting comments and recommendations on the same. Regards, Vinay
  3. Hi, I have the same issue where the machine is unable to join Domain but doesn't give any errors . Operating systems comes up and machine is in workgroup. Checked in the smsts.log and i can't seem to find any error. I have warings that drivers were not found but when i login to the machine and check i can see that all required drivers are installed. I do not have a .xml file created. Is it mandatory to create a .xml file. I have checked the Task sequence report and i can see that there are no errors. I also see that client is not getting installed on the machine.Attached is the smsts.log. Please help on this.. I am struck on this issue. Thanks in advsmstswin-7-vel-image Domain Unable to Join.logance, Vinay
  4. Hi, After a lot of effort i was able to boot with winpe and my hard disk got formated the way i specified it but i'm getting a error while Applying the Operating System task Sequence. After a lot of reading in blogs i understand that my advertisement is running with the data image. I had to capture the image on the local drive. So i guess the data image also got created. Now i'm not sure which image to select. I have 1-1, 2-2, 3-3 to choose from. But not sure which is the correct wim. i'm attaching the smsts.log i happened to see through it and i am suspecting that it might be a issue with my OS image selection. It looks like there is a Data image also in my .wim file. I'm unable to differentiate and select the appropriate image. smsts.log
  5. Hi, i have captured a image from a refrence machine. I have the .wim file of the image. I had to save the image in the local hard disk but in different partition as capture to the network share didn't work. I have image's in my task sequence which say 1-1 2-2 3-3. I'm not sure which one is the right image. How will i be able to find it. currently i have 2-2 selected in my task sequence.
  6. Thank You. i was able to find it and attached is the log. Requesting you to help me on the same. I'm unable to findout the issue. smsts.log
  7. Hi, I know i am asking a very stupid question. But how will i be able to get the smsts.log from a baremetal Laptop.
  8. I am currently trying Deploy Windows 7 x64 Operating System Using SCCM 1007 SP2. Initially Laptop was rebooting after booting to WinPE, I checked the issue and found that LAN card Drivers were missing. I have Injected the Drivers Manually and now the Laptop Boots to WinPE and gets a IP, Formats the Hard Drive and Downloads the .wim and after that I see a message saying Applying Operating System and the next statement says Applying operating system to c:\ and when the blue bar completes I get a task sequence error and system reboots in 15 minutes.. I have attached the error message. I am trying to deploy a operating system on Acer Travelmate 4740.
  9. Hi Lucid, I have injected the NIC Drivers to WINPE and updated the distribution points but still running out of luck. I tried drivers which was in the System Dump and it didn't work. I downloaded the Drivers and then injected the drivers, but still running out of luck
  10. Hi, I am currently in the process of deploying Windows 7 on of the Test Laptop. i Have created the .WIM Image and Advertised the PXE. When i network boot my Test laptop i am able to see Test laptop contacting my SCCM server and the next message says windows is loading files and shows my .wim file is getting loaded from my sccm server. I get the win PE screen and i can see System Center Configuration Manager Screen and after sometime the system restarts. i can't seem to understanding where i have missed out and what should i do to fix this issue and install Windows7 on my test laptop. 11. Hi konetie, I just worked on it.. And it solved my issue. But i just found that in lmhosts file the extension .sam has to be removed. I was missing that and now i am able to get the client installed and report to the sccm Server. This is a beautiful Site. No one will regret visiting this site atleast for SCCM. Thanks for your quick responce. Vinay
  12. Hi, I saw that and only then did i understand that we have to update the lmhosts file and run nbtstat. Thanks for the link Vinay
  13. Hi, I am also trying to install SCCM Client on Work group Servers. I'm able to ping the SCCM Server and the client server with FQDN and NetBIOS. I have tried to install the client using a command line specifing my MP, SLP and SCCM Server name but still having no luck with the installation. I have gone one more step ahead by adding the MP,SLP and SCCM Server name in lmhosts file but still unable to succeed with the installation. Is there something else which i need to do to get the client installed on the Work group Servers.
  14. Hi Guys, We have implemented SCCM 2007 SP2 Mixed mode in our environment and every client in Our forest is able to report and get patches and softwares. Now the company has decided that we have to manage Workgroup servers also with the help of SCCM 2007. I understand that remote client installation will not happen as the workgroup servers can't contact the AD. I have performed the below steps and still unable install SCCM Clients on Work group Servers. Please make me aware if i have missed out on some details or on any steps which need to be followed. 1. I have added the Workgroup Servers in my SCCM Boundaries. 2. Updated the Hosts file with the netbios, FQDN and Active Directory Server details on Work Group Servers. 3. Added the Workgroup Servers in DNS Forwarders in AD for Name resolution. 4. I am able to ping the machines both the ways by FQDN and NetBIOS and able to telnet as well. 4. Added the SCCM MP, Server Name and SLP in the lmhosts file. 5. Tried to install client manually and Failed to do so. 6. Tried to install cleint with a command line and the installation failed there as well. I have attached the log for reference. Please help on this issue. <![LOG[==========[ ccmsetup started in process 17124 ]==========]LOG]!><time="20:21:11.376+000" date="09-03-2010" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="6300" file="ccmsetup.cpp:9010"> <![LOG[Version: 4.0.6487.2000]LOG]!><time="20:21:11.392+000" date="09-03-2010" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="6300" file="ccmsetup.cpp:2068"> <![LOG[Command line parameters for ccmsetup have been specified.
