Update that enables Windows 8.1 and Windows 8 KMS hosts to activate a later version of Windows (Windows 10 for example)

Question

Microsoft has released an update to update Windows 8 and Windows 2012 R2 to support KMS host for later versions of Windows such as the soon to be released Windows 10. You can read about the update here

Important Do not install a language pack after you install this update. Otherwise, the language-specific changes in the update will not be applied, and you will have to reinstall the update. For more information, see Add language packs to Windows.

Method 1: Windows Update

 

This update is provided as an optional update in Windows Update. For more information about how to run Windows Update, see How to get an update through Windows Update.

The update for Windows RT 8.1 or Windows RT can be obtained only from Windows Update.
