Client cannot regiestered and stuff

Question

Greetings to all...

I got some trouble installing and configuring SCCM...

Here is my topology... i wish someone could help... :)

I'm in domain environment... but I'm not the Domain Controller, and I'm not a DHCP Server. I use Windows 2008 and I use static IP.

I installed SQL 2005, with SP 2. And I use SCCM SP1, with R2 installed.

My hardware Xeon 2 Core 3.4 Ghz, with memory 2 Gb.

I got some question to ask :

1. My server use 1.6 Gb / 2 Gb of memory. And the SQL use 1 Gb of them. Is it normal ?

2. How long does it take to add a client (XP or Vista), from installation to be known in the SCCM Collection -> All system ? is it 24 Hours ?

Because it take so long, to be known.

3. After it shown in the "All system" its no automaticaly regiestered, it cannont "run advertisment", how long does this process ? And is there any thing we could do to accelerate this process ?

---------

About the Client registration :

1. My client (Vista). has allready shown in the collection "All System", but the client status is "no"

2. I check my client, and i have allready configured this to my "ICN" SCCM Code. And it works well.

3. But when i check the log.. it shown like this :

1. yes SQL will grab that memory and more until no more memory is left, unless you tell it (SQL) to limit the amount of memory it can use, see attached screenshot, change the value for Maximum Server memory MB to something that will leave more free for other tasks, but read the SQL best practise guides while you are at it, also, why are you not using SP3?

sql_memory_hog.jpg

2. the length of time is based upon your Discovery settings in Site Settings

3. what do you mean it is not automatically registered ?

and your client questions...

1. if client=no then no advertisements will work

verify the firewall on your clients, is it on ? try turning it off to see does this behaviour change

hi..

thanks a lot for the reply...

for SQL.. i will work for the SP3...

i've just realized that there is SP3 for SQL...

btw.. how to open you SQL Manager ? I check the application shortcut.. there is nothing like your screen...

*sorry for my stupidness...

about the 3rd question...

i mean.. if the comp name, is allready in the "all system"

is it automatically regiestered to the SCCM ? ( i mean can use "run advertisment")

or we have to wait for couple hours to make it active ? (client = yes)

because last time.. i have install the SCCM (just try and error)... it take one or two day to make a PC on the "all system".. .and it will take another one or two day.. to make it "client= yes".. its make me desperate.. :P

------

in this new setting.. i set for 1 hours.. to discovery..

but it seems.. it take more than what i configure...

------

about the firewall..

i've turn off the firewall (in client and server) but.. it still have the same status..

is there any other way ?
