  1. Hi Anyweb, or anyone that can help me. I understand the part about creating a new SUG for each month. But, can you tell me why I should continue using the exiting package to distribute my updates? The reason why I ask is because, I don't want to keep adding updates to my existing package on my DP. Over time this package will become huge, and some of the updates inside of it will become superseded, expired or not required. Is my understanding of this correct? Should I have a separate package for each months updates. Thanks
  2. Did you ever get this working and what are the steps? I have made my reference machine but I can't get the sysprep part to work. I think I have to add an unattend.xml file in the Apply Operating System step of my Deployment TS. But it's asking for a package and filename.
  3. Hi I am having trouble trying to capture an image of a machine. I have used a Build and Capture TS and that works fine. But what I want to do now is perform a manual capture of the machine. I thought I could just go ahead and create a custom task with a capture step. But for some reason it's not working and I keep getting an error. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks
  4. I'm sitting here with exactly the same problem and it's annoying me.
  5. Are you still going to show us how to restore a site backup in the event of a site failure? Thanks
  6. Hmmm. I'm just wondering whether it's worth installing for my deployment needs. I'm used to deploying through WDS and using SYSPREP with a unattend file. I need to try out of the methods really.
  7. Hi I am starting to deploy my application to my PXE clients. And I was wondering what is the benefit of installing the MDT on my Site Server? I assume I can do most of the same things using the SCCM Task Sequences. All I want to be able to do is deploy my O/S to my devices.
  8. Hi, I,ve setup Reporting Services as shown in the guides on this site. It all appears to be working. But when I go to the report node in the console I can't see anything. I,ve attached some screen shots. I've given the SCCM user full permissions and the configmgr_pri folder is there. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
  9. Hi Garth, I,ve attached a screen shot of my drives. I've also analysed my SQL Drive and it's reporting as being around 13.9GB in use. But as you can see in the picture Windows is reporting a lot more. It's a bit confusing and I'm trying to find out what's consuming this space.
  10. Hi Garth, I checked the drive again. I've got 8GB free out of 30GB. The SCCM DB is quite small, please see the attached screenshot. So I don't know what could be taking up all of this space and causing it to grow.
  11. Hi, I would like some help with the following. I've created my lab and provisioned 30GB for the SQL drive. The problem I have is that I'm already running low on space!! This makes me think how much space would I need in a production enviroment? As I,m new to SCCM I don't know whether I have a problem or not. All I have in my lab is 4 workstations. What is the nomimal or expected size that I should be seeing for a small lab SQL SCCM database? What would the size of the DB be if I was in a production environment with around 1000 clients? Is there a way to clean up the DB and compact it? What are your best tips for keeping the DB size down? Hoping you can help. Thanks
  12. The tile of this thread is wrong. It should be using SCCM 2012 RC in a LAB - Part 2. Add SUP and WSUS
  13. Hi, I've got SCCM 2012 SP1 running in my lab and my client polling set to a low value. In the real world I would like to see the last client policy check in time show up in my device list. Instead it shows a value that is a couple of days old. The same goes for the heartbeat value. I try refreshing the device but it's makes no difference. All I get is an old time and not the most recent one. I've even forced a client machine policy retreival on the workstation, and it still doesn't update the check time in the SCCM console. What could be wrong. It's annoying because I have one machine that is showing as having an Endpoint Protection problem, but when I go to the actual machine it is fine and up to date. Please help. Thanks
  14. Sorted. You need to activate WCF for .Net 4.5 when using Windows Server 2012 and IIS8.0 And enable .net 3.5 to co exist on the Server. Then I removed and re-installed the Application Catlog and Application Catalog Web Service Point roles.
  15. I think I may have found the problem. It looks like I need to activate WCF on my Server.
  16. I suppose everyone is different. I've set my Machine polling cyclel to 5 mins. But I only have 3 VMs and its a lab. I don't want to be waiting 60mins for my clients to contact the SCCM Server for update policies.
  17. Hi, I've got a problem trying to view my Application Catalog. I open Software Center and click on find an application from the application catalog. I get the silverlight display come up and then for a brief moment it works. Then it gives me an error message saying: Cannot connect to the application server. What could be causing this? Have you ever seen anything like it. Thanks
  18. Hi, Hi I've got a problem with my EP ADR. It created the package and has been working for the past couple of days. But for some reason it is now failing to update the package and it says it is looking for a source folder in the content folder. So it's not updating the package, and nothing is getting sent it to the distribution point. I was thinking I could try deleting the package and all the source content in my EP sources content folder. Then recreating the EP ADR and have everyting download again. What do you think? Have you seen anything like this before? Thanks
  19. I,m adding virtual machines to my domain. I'm currently in the testing phase of SCCM. Thanks
  20. Hi, Yes I am targeting my machines using the push install. And I have the automatic side wide policy on. I,ve also got Endpoint installed and an ADR set to a collection of machines. For example. 1. As soon as my new PC goes onto the domain it can take some time for the client to be installed. I would like to get it down to as quick as possible. 2. Then as as soon as the client is installed, it can take a further amount of time for the Enpoint Protection to get installed. I would like to get it down to as quick as possible.
  21. Hi, I have heard the joke about SMS Slow Moving Software. And I don't know if it's true. But what I find annoying is the time it takes for the SCCM client to install on new machines. I've enabled system discovery, but it still takes time for the client to install on newly discovered machines. What I am scared of, is that theres a period where the PC is unmanaged and at risk. The same goes for my Endpoint Protection. It installs when it likes. I would like to them to be installed as soon as possible. i.e the first time that machines logs onto the domain. Is there a way to do this? Thanks
  22. I managed to figure it out. I changed the SUP to look at port 8530 and it worked. It's working now.
  23. No I told it to use the default IIS website. I will go through the process again and take some screen shots. WSUS 4 uses a default port of 8530 and the default IIS website uses port 80.
  24. Hi I have a problem with my WSUS. I followed the guides and set everything up as explained. I couldn't get a copy of Server 2008, so I am using Server 2012 on a vhd. Because I'm using Server 2012 I had to update to SCCM 2012 SP1. So this is what I'm using. SCCM Server = Server 2012 SCCM Ver = SCCM 2012 SP1 WSUS Ver = 4.0 I added the WSUS role and set it to use the default IIS website as in the guide. Now WSUS 4.0 uses port 8530 instead of port 80. To connect to my WSUS server I have to use http://sccm.test.com:8530 When I type in that I get an error message page. I can go directly into the WSUS Console and start a sync ok. But I can't get it to work through SCCM. I've installed my SUP and gone into Software and then Sync'd All Software. This is the error message I'm getting in the WSUS Configuration Log. Attempting connection to WSUS server: SCCM.test.com, port: 80, useSSL: False SMS_WSUS_CONFIGURATION_MANAGER 10/12/2012 21:26:36 1068 (0x042C) System.Net.WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.~~ at Microsoft.UpdateServices.Administration.AdminProxy.CreateUpdateServer(Object[] args)~~ at Microsoft.SystemsManagementServer.WSUS.WSUSServer.ConnectToWSUSServer(String ServerName, Boolean UseSSL, Int32 PortNumber) SMS_WSUS_CONFIGURATION_MANAGER 10/12/2012 21:26:36 1068 (0x042C) Remote configuration failed on WSUS Server. 25. Hi, I'm failrly new to SCCM. I have installed SCCM on my Server and deployed a client to a workstation. I used the push installation method. When I check on the workstation I see that the CCMExec process is running. And the Configuration Manager tab is in the Control Panel. Everything appears to be ok on the workstation. But when I look under the devices node on the SCCM Server. The Client status is set to NO. It appears that everything has installed ok, but they can't communicate. I can't see any error messages, and the client install shows as complete. What could be going on here? Thanks
