  1. I can indeed c: and dir'ed and copied/moved some files around...
  2. does the diskpart/format need to be fresh? I am reloading a PC that was just OSD'ed so it does have an existing partition but I still see the missing icons.
  3. I have an extra reboot right in the beginning that I cannot seem to get rid of. When I boot into PXE (64bit or 32bit) it allows me to select the Windows Noob HTA, it says it's copying the windows preinstallation environment and then requests that the PC be rebooted. I have looked through the tasks sequences but I cannot find where this is coming from. Is this avoidable?
  4. Hi Niall, When I select one of the options the other two icons (I think they are supposed to be "greyed-out") are actually missing the icons and display with the red X. Is this particular to my setup or is this something with the HTA? I am going to dig into the html and see if I can figure it out. Thanks! FYI - I'm still working on a USMT process that goes direct from PC to PC . I'm doing it manually with a batch USMT script that I had written like 2 years ago - I supply variables like so - "usmt.bat pc1234 pc5678 username" and it moves all of the user data that I have specified in the xml.
  5. I think you could use pieces of it but I do not think it will plug into MDT.
  6. Thank you for a Great tool, I've mostly got everything configured and running but I have a couple of questions though - Issues: I'm confused why when making the association on a new computer it would require the destination computer to be entered? Shouldn't this be the Source computer? I'm thinking that this is a new computer (data destination) and I want to pull the data from the old computer (data source). Is my thinking flawed? Under New Installation the UserDataLocation and UDShare steps are disabled. Are those not required? If they are, what Value is needed for the UserDataLocation? I was browsing through the DeployMenu.js file and noticed on line 302 that the sUsmtStorePath value is set to "\\\\sccm\\USMTStores"; Do I need to put my USMT data store server\path here? Notes: My windows 7 deployment was failing after applying the OS because the TS to apply drivers was disabled by default so it wasn't getting a network connection. Questions: I have 300 computers to upgrade in the next couple of months so my main objective is to get OSD to run a scanstate on the old PC while in XP (NOT WinPE). Is that possible? Everyone at work chuckles when I pull up "Windows-Noob.com" in my browser but I have gotten a few others to start using your site as they notice that it is often returning top hits in a google search. I know I'm busy and I don't run a fully functioning support blog so I can only imagine that you are swamped. I appreciate any assistance you can provide. Jeremy
  7. vb script the install and display a "installing office 2010... do not shut down" message or Configure the install with Display level set to Basic and select Supress Modal. This will display the installation status bar. Are you saying that people will turn off the laptop in the middle of the install or that it will just loose network connectivity? You can set the advertisement to Download the content from the distribution point to ensure that the package is run locally wether or not the laptop is on the network. I just completed an Office 2010 deployment and had a 97% success rate. I found in most cases that people were excited to receive an Office upgrade and wanted to make sure it finished. Hope that helps a little...
  8. I'm trying to use the UDI and when I get the screen to select the appropriate Operating System Image I can validate the SCCM server but when I click add it doesn't find any OS images available. On a side note, I am in the middle of migrating my SCCM server to new hardware and when I place the old server info in and validate, it find the OS image - I don't want to use this server and the new one is configured exactly the same but with a new site code. Any ideas?
  9. Disregard I didn't realize you had linked to the gui version in the last line of your post
  10. Maybe I am doing something totally wrong but I can't get my sccm created usb boot to allow me to get to a command prompt with F8. I have to use a standard winpe to get to the drive but here it is. I think I kind of know what the problem is, I am seeing this error message (confusing because it connects to ms-ni77 at one point and then not) - No credentials available for connecting to "\\ms-ni77.shure.com\SMSPKGD$\NIL00045". 11. Ok, thanks to your guys help I have made it a little further Apparently it was the usb boot image I was trying to use. I created a new one, added my network drivers and I'm almost happy. Now it sees the task available; formats the drive; and tries to apply the operating system. I'm getting this error though - Task Sequence: Build and Capture Windows 7 has failed with the error code (0X800700002). I will google this error but I am guessing it still won't be very specific what my issue is. Any ideas???
  12. I have SCCM SP2 R2 Installed and I am taking a stab at deploying Windows 7. I have followed the step-by-step guide for deploying it (posted on this site) and I am getting stuck. I am not using PXE. I have created the USB bootable thumb drive and have copied the boot.wim over to it that I created in SCCM. It boots fine and starts up the SCCM OSD process but after about a minute it just restarts. It doesn't even format the drive. Here is the TaskSequenceProvider.log file from the SCCM box (is there somewhere else to look for troubleshooting?) <![LOG[[PID: 26192] Invoking method SMS_TaskSequence.ExportXml]LOG]!><time="15:50:35.430+300" date="07-19-2010" component="TaskSequenceProvider" context="" type="1" thread="28016" file="wmiprovider.cpp:335"> <![LOG[[PID: 26192] Done with method SMS_TaskSequence.ExportXml]LOG]!><time="15:50:35.445+300" date="07-19-2010" component="TaskSequenceProvider" context="" type="1" thread="28016" file="wmiprovider.cpp:362"> <![LOG[setting status complete: status code = 0x0; ]LOG]!><time="15:50:35.445+300" date="07-19-2010" component="TaskSequenceProvider" context="" type="1" thread="28016" file="exterror.cpp:128">
