Have you made any progress on this? I've seen various Technet threads discussing this problem, but no one seems to have a good answer. I'm running into the same issue myself and was hoping to have a working solution in place by Monday.

Not that I know of. As far as I know, the SCCM client just periodically polls unless you force it from the client side. You probably just need to wait.

I am curious about this also. I have never had great luck installing/updating applications. My most recent deployment of Acrobat X was lackluster at best. It was very hit or miss as far as whether or not the installation was successful. Of course, every time I test these things in a test environment, they go smoothly. Drop the same procedure into a production environment and wacky things start to happen.

Yeah if you right-click on your selected updates and choose download, you should be able to put them into a deployment package like willisj318 says. You can either select an existing one or create a new one in this dialog.

I've been doing this for a while now and I've found it's just easiest for me to do it manually. I doubt I'm doing it the best way, but it has worked for me. I only have two software update groups: workstation updates and server updates. Each month I run a search for Office/Lync/Silverlight and each OS we use (Win 7/8/8.1, and Win Server 2008/2008 R2/2012). I just download those updates to their respective deployment packages (I have one for each OS and everything else gets grouped into an "Office" package) and edit their membership to make sure they are included in their respective SUGs. I then create separate deployments of each SUG to each device collection (Workstation updates to Win7/8/8.1 PCs and server updates to the others). Probably not the most efficient way of doing it but I've been doing it this way for so long that I can usually get it done pretty quickly. I also like to do it manually so I can look through the updates for that month and exclude anything we may not want. This doesn't happen often, but we have wanted to exclude certain updates in the past.

I am having an issue with one of the device collections I created. This error has been popping up in the status messages for the software update point every 5 minutes. HK10001C doesn't even exist anymore. I deleted it a while ago (not sure exactly when). Everything seems to be running fine otherwise, but I am wondering if this is affecting other collection updates since they seem to be a little sluggish at times. Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this? Alright, so I'm having the same issue that walsallf was having, but when I try to do this fix, SCCM will not allow me to choose "Access content directly from a distribution point when needed by the running task sequence". The option is there, but when I choose it and apply the change, it just reverts back to "Download content locally when needed by running task sequence". I was hoping that this would fix the \\boot\bcd issue I am having, but since I can't seem to change the option, I can't try it out. Anyone have any suggestions? Edit: We solved this by removing the PXE service point option in Distribution point settings and then re-adding it. We had done this before, and it hadn't worked, but it worked this time. Building/capturing as we speak...
