  1. I will check it out. I haven't had much time with MDT. Everything I have ever done has been via OSD only and that has been limited. Most of my engagements usuallly have a large enough team and is seperated by role. However, I will be dealing with smaller companies and government agencies now and will be needed to ramp up my skills in this area a little more.
  2. Yes but I wouldn't recomend it. Nothing against it but having all your eggs in one basket comes to mine. Yes I know it is a cluster etc.. Nothing wrong with it and it should work. As for this: "You cannot use a clustered SQL Server for the site database server when the site database is co-located with the site server" This is true if you will have the SQL server and the site server on the same physical/virtual machine. The SMS provider can't be load balanced. Don't take my direct word but from past research I believe that is the case. "Configuration Manager with no service pack does not support the site database on any version of a SQL Server 2008 R2 cluster. This includes any service pack version or cumulative update version of SQL Server 2008 R2. With Configuration Manager SP1, the site database is supported on a SQL Server 2008 R2 cluster" Please install SP1 even though there are bugs "known features" that microsoft will fix in R2 coming up soon SP1 has a lot more benifits over RTM. I have been in different environments where we have our databases on clustered dedicated sql servers to the location I am at now where everything is on a single box. Sorry that I can't answer your question directly. I have never used the same SQL cluster for both the CAS and a Primary server. However, like I mentioned above if the cluster is powerful enough you shouldn't have a problem with it if it. Just take note, you will want that CAS and that Primary server to be within that same network and not across the a wire at another physical location.
  3. Our current OSD TS is pretty basic at this time. Disabled Bitlocker, formats and partitions, deploys OS, configures OS, install apps, joins domain, etc. I am looking to start building on this base and include USMT processes as well. Does anyone have any good TS examples with advanced task that include rebuild or refreshes? Thanks!
  4. Quick question about creating a Configuration Manager Client Upgrade Package. If we do not do this step and we assign our OSD TS ust the Configuration Manager Client package that comes default is the normal results what I am seeing? OSD Task completes successfully then I notice that the client is unintsalled withing the OS and reinstalled once the client checks in? So, in theory if I just create a Configuration Manager Client Upgrade Package this extra process at the end will not take place? Thanks, Kris
  5. This is a nice feature but I am not sure why everyone is upset with the change in the first place. To be honest Windows 8 both with a touch screen and non touch screen isn't hard to navigate. My wife, who isn't at all very computer savy gives her Windows 8 laptop a "I like it" grade. I showed her a few shortcuts and within minutes my wife was able to grasp Windows 8 new GUI without complainst. In fact she noticed how much faster her laptop responded. Just saying, not sure why so many complained about the new OS.
