For me everything is working fine expect the application included in the task sequence not getting installed. I added package notepadd++, deployed to DP and the content status is 100% compliance. My task sequence is BOOT + OS IMAGE + CONFIGURATION CLIENT + NOTEPADD++ The first 3 steps are working fine but the Notepad++ apps is not getting installed in the task sequence. What log should i look for to figure out why the application is not getting installed? By the way the application (Notepadd++) is available in Software Center once the client system logged in.

Look forward to Direct Access (also called Remote Access) learning tutorial. Any other tutorial on server 2012 would be appreciated.

Is it possible to run both EX 2010 & EX2013 together? I am running EX 2010 on HP Laptop 6515b. I would like to run EX 2013 as a virtual machine on vSphere 5. They both will be on the same network (192.16.0.0). By the way this is a home lab setup used for testing various products. I am using smart host to relay the mail because current ISP blocked port 25 and they won't open port 25. I am using tzo.com as smart host relay agent.

Can, I install CAS & Mailbox Role onto a single server 2008 R2? I am going to try EX 2013 inside vmware workstation 8. I am running EX 2010 SP2 currently on HP 6515b Laptop. Update - Just found out both roles can be installed on server 2008 or server 2012 (Windows 8).

Thanks friend. I have no valid reason to put why, I was not running DHCP. I will disable DHCP from router and install DHCP on DC (2008 R2) and continue with the lab exercise. Will keep you updated. Hello, Upto Lab Part 6 everything went fine. Now, I am at Part 7 - having problem with PXE boot. I created VM on Hyper-v - added legacy adapter and changed BIOS to boot from legacy adapter. For some reason, the VM is unable to contact vnext server (sccm2012) to boot. I have enabled pxe service on distribution point. What is missing? no clue. Will keep searching google and see, if, i can find a solution. Appreciate, if any one can help me. I am not running DHCP on vnext server (sccm2012). Getting dynamic IP address from Linksys router.

Peter is right. I followed the guide to complete the install. Everything is working fine. I am running SQL 2008 SP1 CU14. Wonderful tutorial. Was able to create,distribute and deploy xml notepad and 7-zip to all systems and all users. The apps got installed successfully. My question - How to get rid of the message "New Software is available" on the task bar (a small icon). When, I open the small icon - Open Software Center opens up and it show installation status, installed apps, date and time. Appreciate, if you guys can help me. By the way I am in no hurry. This is a test lab, I am working on with the hope of learning sccm 2012. Have completed part 1 to part 6. Few more parts to go. Tks / Ram

Hello, When you say install client on AD1 (which is a domain controller) and, I see you have successfully installed the client. In my case, I am unable to install the client because clientinstall (user) is not a member of Local Administrators group (which is one of the requirement to install the software as per your description). On the Domain Controller there is no option to add clientinstall (user) to Local Administrators. Can you help me here how to proceed with. Hello, I am new to SMS or SCCM 2007. I have DSL router acting as DHCP and couple of client machines have dynamic ip address from the router. Do, I still need to install DHCP on DC to continue with the install of SCCM 2007. Look forward to your reply. My Lab setup - 4 laptops (P4 2.2ghz, 1GB Mem, 40GB HD) and 1 virtual machines on vmware workstation 6.0.3. One laptop will be DC with SCCM 2007 and the rest 3 laptops & 1 VM will act as client machines. Tks/Ram
