  1. Hi This is something I've noticed with MDT deployed images, when the PC or laptop first boots up after a deployment, you get the black screen that requests which default operating system you want to use? there is two instances of Windows 7, selecting either launches the operating system. Any idea how to get rid of this? so that the PC or Laptop just boots up normally?
  2. Hi I was wondering if anyone can help with this little problem. We are trying to deploy Windows 7 using MDT, unfortunatley the problem we are having is a specific driver for the Toshiba U400 laptop, it's the software used to protect the HDD from shaking or something like that. If we deploy the image through MDT and WDS the laptop just goes in a start-up loop or BSD... any ideas? apart from the license issues we are doing Okay LOL
  3. Cheers now playing around with it...
  4. still no reply... would a sysprep file do it?
  5. At Last, this is what I've been waiting for... yes all of the above as stated by Malik4u, also can you include one on Multicasting deployments too....Looking forward to it
  6. How do I configure WSIM so that I can set the proxy setting. I have been looking but cannot find it anywhere....Help!
  7. Thanks for getting back so quick, The strange thing is we copied it from a disc which works fine when use the MAK key....
  8. It asks you to manually put a valid key in, and when I do it just Say's that it is not a valid one? Any ideas as this is holding us up now? Any help would be great
  9. I am having problems with Windows 7 and trying to deploy it through WDS, it errors with a message that the License is not valid. It is a valid windows MAK (Multiple Activation Key) license. Is there anything I can do to resolve this?
  10. Just to confirm, the network at work already has servers that run DHCP, DNS and AD do I still need to add those to the WDS 2008 server??? I thought I could just add the WDS to the server2008 I am using and away it goes, I never had this problem with Server 2003?
  11. Thanks for the Heads Up Peter, so once the drivers have been injected and committed I can use the WIM file as normal like before with peimg?
  12. Hi, it's been awhile since I posted on the forum, but since peimg doesn't exist in the new WSIM how do you use Dism?
  13. I was looking for instructions on how to deploy and configure WDS, been an old hand at RIS I discovered this site on one of my visits about RIS... I tend to check this site first for answers and solutions
  14. OK I found this site with actual screen shots....Job done ...... http://www.petenetlive.com/Tech/Windows/WDS/WDS.htm
  15. New site looks better and cleaner not sure waht you mean about the logo, did you want someone to re-design it? I know some-one who has the skills... I could design a nice logo if you want in Photoshop
  16. Would this be a by product of the sysprep.inf? I may have found a work around anyway by using a command line after sysprep has finished and opening up the control panel and then the user account window... for now it seems to work.............But I would still like to be able to get this fixed
  17. Hmmm... LOL... I have managed to download some pic's of WDS at various stages, so no big deal there... LOL
  18. I thought, for what's it worth that you had to inject drivers using imageX and such tools... are you talking about network drivers or other drivers such as video, sound etc? I think this can be injected via WAIK, I think, never had to try it myself, as I just create the image of the PC I want, with all the software I need and all the drivers already installed... I then SYSPREP it and capture the image onto the WDS server, and deploy it that way, using an unattended.xml file and sysprep.inf... so far it works, although I still have some issues (see my previous posts)I hope this helps, I am still fairly new to WDS... most of my experience has been with RIS (4 years)
  19. Hi, This is just a request on the off Chance that some-one might be able to point me to a site or something. I am doing a "How to" instruction sheet for copying and deploying Images for my work place, but I am having problems getting screen shots of the windows that pop up during the WDS stages, does any-one have any I could use? Thanking you guy's in advance
  20. OK let me try to explain this better.... I Deploy images via WDS and SYSPREP, after successfully deploying the image and joining the domain the PC or Laptop restarts and automatically logs in as the local administrator. However... and this is why I posted this question on the forum, when you try to restart the only account it will log into is the local admin account, you do not get the option to select a different user to log on to the domain. This puzzled me for a while until I checked the user account and it was dissabled... as seen in the attachment...Once this was ticked everything worked OK... What I want to know, as I haven't come accross this problem with RIS, is there a way to enable this, is there a setting in the unattended.xml I am using... here is a copy of my .xml file.. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> - <unattend xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend"> - <settings pass="windowsPE"> - <component name="Microsoft-Windows-International-Core-WinPE" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> - <SetupUILanguage> <UILanguage>en-GB</UILanguage> <WillShowUI>Never</WillShowUI> </SetupUILanguage> <InputLocale>en-GB</InputLocale> <SystemLocale>en-GB</SystemLocale> <UILanguage>en-GB</UILanguage> <UILanguageFallback>en-GB</UILanguageFallback> <UserLocale>en-GB</UserLocale> </component> - <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Setup" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> - <WindowsDeploymentServices> - <Login> - <Credentials> <Domain>wsc.ac.uk</Domain> <Password>******</Password> <Username>administrator@******</Username> </Credentials> <WillShowUI>Never</WillShowUI> </Login> </WindowsDeploymentServices> </component> </settings> - <settings pass="specialize"> - <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <DisableAutoDaylightTimeSet>false</DisableAutoDaylightTimeSet> <DoNotCleanTaskBar>false</DoNotCleanTaskBar> <ProductKey>************</ProductKey> <RegisteredOrganization>OrgName</RegisteredOrganization> <RegisteredOwner>OrgName</RegisteredOwner> <TimeZone>85</TimeZone> <StartPanelOff>false</StartPanelOff> <ShowWindowsLive>false</ShowWindowsLive> </component> - <component name="Microsoft-Windows-UnattendedJoin" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> - <Identification> - <Credentials> <Domain>*****</Domain> <Password>*****</Password> <Username>Administrator@*****</Username> </Credentials> <JoinDomain>******</JoinDomain> </Identification> </component> </settings> - <settings pass="oobeSystem"> - <component name="Microsoft-Windows-International-Core" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <InputLocale>en-GB</InputLocale> <SystemLocale>en-GB</SystemLocale> <UILanguage>en-GB</UILanguage> <UILanguageFallback>en-GB</UILanguageFallback> <UserLocale>en-GB</UserLocale> </component> - <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> - <UserAccounts> - <AdministratorPassword> <Value>QQBkAG0AMQBuAEwAMABjAGEAbABBAGQAbQBpAG4AaQBzAHQAcgBhAHQAbwByAFAAYQBzAHMAdwBvA HIAZAA=</Value> <PlainText>false</PlainText> </AdministratorPassword> </UserAccounts> <DisableAutoDaylightTimeSet>false</DisableAutoDaylightTimeSet> <DoNotCleanTaskBar>true</DoNotCleanTaskBar> <RegisteredOrganization>''''''''''''''''</RegisteredOrganization> <RegisteredOwner>'''''''''''''</RegisteredOwner> <TimeZone>85</TimeZone> - <OOBE> <HideEULAPage>true</HideEULAPage> <NetworkLocation>Work</NetworkLocation> <ProtectYourPC>1</ProtectYourPC> <SkipUserOOBE>true</SkipUserOOBE> </OOBE> - <AutoLogon> - <Password> <Value>SAA0AGwAZgBMADEAZgBlAFAAYQBzAHMAdwBvAHIAZAA=</Value> <PlainText>false</PlainText> </Password> <Domain>*******</Domain> <Enabled>true</Enabled> <Username>Administrator@******</Username> </AutoLogon> </component> </settings> <cpi:offlineImage cpi:source="wim:e:/vista%20files/install.wim#Windows Vista BUSINESS" xmlns:cpi="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:cpi" /> </unattend> I hope this helps... thanking you guys in advance... :)
