using SCCM 2012 in a LAB - Part 7. Build and Capture Windows 7 X64

Recommended Posts

I do not have to press F12 twice (where does it say to do that?). I get the same screen in your quoted response, the 'Press F12 for Network boot'. After that I get the same error screen the other user posted but my status id is different (noted in previous post).

ok so is your network card your first boot device in the bios ? then no need to press F12 twice, you only need to press F12 when it states 'press F12', that's the point i'm trying to make, F12 on most dells for example initiates a one time boot menu where you can select Network boot...

OK that makes more sense. I'm still getting the 0xc000000f error at after pressing F12. I have removed passwords for PXE. Note of interest when I created my boot images and distribute them it creates a second WIM file in the \\share\SMS_XXX\OSD\boot\i386 and x64 folders. Is that normal?

So, in the i386 folder I have boot.wim and boot.12300015.wim

Hello, I'm on the first step of part 7 to enable PXE.

When I click on Administration, Site Configuration, Servers and Site System Roles, and double click on the Distribution Point role listed, I only get one tab that says "general".

Did I miss a step in a previous part? Thank you for any direction you can providew.

DUH....I was clicking the wrong part...never mind...got it!

Hello I have created a new virtual machine, but have NOT been successful in seeing it added to the build and capture Windows 7 X64 collection. I am using vm ware esxi 4.1 instead of Hyper-V. should I begin again a new slate with RC2 and hyper v?

I have obtained the MAC address, and computer name...The new VM in questio shows in the confgmngr console under all systems, but will not add to the specified collection. Any ideas?

I've had this problem in the past as well. It seems it just takes time for it to show up in the collection. I'm using the same setup as you (VMWare ESX 4.1).

Delete the VM, recreate it, note the MAC address and add it as a resources into the collection. Also, what I did was actually turn the (no OS installed) VM on and just let it sit after adding it to SCCM. I wonder if SCCM goes out and checks the network for that MAC address somehow and once it confirms it shows it in the list?
