  1. As some other brands offer automatic driver and app installation tools, Dell offers DCSU but can I next to drivers also install useful applications? I just red something about Dell Quickset but are there any other things? I'm new to Dell install. We have; Latitude D620 Latitude D830 Latitude E6500 Latitude E6510 OptiPlex 740 OptiPlex 780 OptiPlex GX620 (not sure I will install W7 on it) Also does anyone use a tool to change the sata settings on AHCI and nic on PXE boot enabled instead of manually change it on 1000 machines? Thanks!
  2. Some questions; Do you make an image build per type of machine or 1 image build for all machines? Are you using protected DP's? What is in this 3,5GB media disc (DVD)? We want to do the same for the same reasons (remote sites with small bandwidth) How much time does it take to install a machine lets say tier1 and tier 2?
  3. I get the impression that some domains get the updates quicker than others so I don't know if it's the thing that computers are in idle state or if it's the bandwidth or maybe the place in the forest.
  4. Yes that's right, 25000 clients per SUP. But I have the feeling it would be faster if I install 1 SUP more on their domain so then get the updates faster. We only have 5,000 clients
  5. I have a domain which needs updates faster than any other domain in my SCCM. Could this be solved by installing another remote SUP for those clients or is just 1 SUP enough?
  6. I cannot install the Lenovo T510. No ip is given. But if I manually install the driver, it works. I synced it on the driver package and boot image. It's the Intel 82577LM, 10/12/2009, 11.5.10.0, VEN_8086&DEV_10EA&SUBSYS_215317AA&REV_06 EDIT: Ok, apparently it's 11.5.10.1030 that must resolve this problem or by adding some info on the .inf. http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T410-and-W510-Intel-82577LM-driver-is-not-compatible-with/td-p/209776 EDIT2: Nothing changed. In winPE the machine is installing but once after and in the OS there is no network card. When I do an ipconfig I get; Ethernet adapter Bluetooth Network Connection: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Media Disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . . : but nothing for an 'Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection'. Can someone please help here?
  7. For weeks software was installing in task sequences and now for no reason, no software from the dp is installed in my task sequences. In the logs there's nothing like "software not on dp" or whatever. Have someone of you already had this kind of problem and what did you do? EDIT: Ok I found the error "The step (Install Visual++ Redist 2010) must be running in full OS" and this is for all the software. EDIT: This problem is resolved as I can install machines again. But now I get the error: "The instruction at 0x76febbb1 referenced memory at 0x0000001b..." And when I want to simply reboot the machine with the previous Win7 on it it gives me my first Win7 blue screen; STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error} The initial session process or system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x0000000 (0xc0000001 0x001003d0) The system has been shut down" My first blue screen
  8. I do have 2 reg values that need to be deleted from de current user so I have to copy the profile to the default one. I understand that I cannot do this in the capture stage but when I install machines with that image. But how can I copy the user to the default user and at what stage? Beginning or at the end?
  9. Right, like Kiranmadhavi said with "wmic csproduct get name" you can get the exact type of model you have so for example if you have 2 different T400s you can have 1 sequence with the wmi query: Select * From Win32_ComputerSystem WHERE Model LIKE "%4567%" and the second sequence with another query "Select * From Win32_ComputerSystem WHERE Model LIKE "%3434%" That's all
  10. With my task sequence I use ThinInstaller to install all drivers to build my base image. But with the Lenovo T500-2056 I got the problem that it won't install at all I have the log from SCCM and from ThinInstaller. I saw error 1619 but why? I thought that there was something with the command line (Setup64-WIN7.exe /s /v" /qn REBOOT="R"") but all is good. The driver is this one: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-73674 smsts.log tvsu.log I tried to see if the command-line was correct by manually executing it and some popup came on the screen, maybe that this is causing the install in TS to fail?
  11. Now I will create a new base image each 6 months I think depending on the amount of updates. The more you install software the less your base will be flexible an MVP told me. For the people who installs Office2010, SAP and other big software (iSeries for instance) do you have problems afterwards updating this software or changing anything?
  12. I am making a base image but for some things I need to know if I can install basic software like appv client, flash, adobe reader? Do you install this or do you install it on the production images?
  13. thanks Niall, I'll try the powercfg -setactive a1841308-3541-4fab-bc81-f71556f20b4a command or the export-import trick
  14. I am almost finishing my base image for Windows 7 ENT. It's supergood! the only thing I need is the powerplan that is always failing. I created a 'Run command Line' with the following command: cmd.exe /c powercfg -s a1841308-3541-4fab-bc81-f71556f20b4a I also tried with cmd.exe /c "powercfg -s a1841308-3541-4fab-bc81-f71556f20b4a" but no good results. Can someone tell me what is need to put it in Power Saver(laptops) and High Performance (desktops) please?
  15. I need more than 24hours a day

  16. I tried a lot of thing on 3 days but finally I managed to see through the smoke What was failing was that the network share isn't accessible because the program (egather) is using the framework library. For that you must set a rule like %WINDIR%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CasPol.exe -pp off -m -ag 1.2 -url file://\\server\share\ FullTrust (Also I did it on ip address and not on netbios name)
  17. I tried by copying the whole extracted ThinInstaller folder to "Program Files (x86)" but now I'm copying it to '%systemdrive%\ThinInst'. Did you ever ran this successfully in Win7 x64?
  18. I got more info from the smsts.log. I can't have a separated log file for ThinInstaller or maybe I don't know where it is Start executing an instruciton. Instruction name: Run Thininstaller. 19. Ok we are testing Win7 to deploy and I'm also into the Thininstaller thing. It works when I launch the command-line manually but not through task sequence. I saw in the c:\programdata\lenovo\%computername%installation.txt that all needed packages were installed but this is when it's done manually. Every access is good but it doesn't install with TS. It's Win7 ENT x64 *The copy is working fine. (to C:\Windows\ThinIsnt) *The command-line I use is: "cmd.exe /c thininstaller.exe /CM -search A -action INSTALL -repository \\10.156.253.14\drivers -noicon -includerebootpackages 1,2,3,4 -noreboot" Starting in; "C:\Windows\ThinInst" Time-out; 45 minutes Run as user; domain\sccm administrator
  20. The management here is asking now to have some numbers and maybe graphs to see how much successrate we have on a certain time base. Is this possible? These numbers are deleted after a while I suppose so giving these numbers will be difficult, no?
  21. Thanks I responded to that post EDIT: Ok I found what it was first in cmd "scdec_setup.exe /extract c:\somewhere" then "scdec.msi /quiet" All ok now Ready to deploy
  22. We have all of our users that cannot see a livemeeting recording due to a missing codec called "Microsoft Application Screen Decoder (MSA1)". They cannot install it so I need to deploy this but it's not working with silent switches. Does someone already installed this? This is the download link ---> http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=160545 This is a printscreen of it
  23. When I launch my build win7 task sequence everything is done untill the installation of applications. I suppose it's the nic driver not getting installed while I do do a F8 and a ipconfig I'm not getting any ip address. I successfully imported the correct x64 win7 driver into the x64 boot image. (It's there, I can see it ) What I'm trying to build is a Windows 7 Enterprise x64 image. When I try the same imported driver into Win7 it installs correctly so I can't figure out what is causing this.
  24. no I wish it was that simple but in the smsts there's nothing. Ok it installs framework 2.0, flash 10, framework 3.5 and by the following it just reboots the machine. This application is installed since the beginning of SCCM here and I just did an update of the package on all DP's. I relaunch and will look if it's better
